“Always a great place for seafood....”
Reviewed December 24, 2012

This is a family favorite.....we usually are coming down from Amelia Island and will take the ferry across to Mayport. The place is always busy with lots of people hitting it for lunch. Most of the time we get a shrimp or grouper basket. Then we get a few lbs of big shrimp to go along with some pre made crab cakes. They have shrimp cakes too which are really good. In my opinion the quality of the seafood is better than most restaurants cause its so fresh.

“Safe Harbor over-rated, not impressed!”
Reviewed December 14, 2012

I live in Jax and grew up in Florida fishing and eating great seafood. I read many reviews of this place and decided to try it for lunch today. My food was for the most part flavorless from the cole slaw to the shrimp and scallops. My fried shrimp were over cooked and a bit tough along with lacking any real flavor. The scallops were nice large scallops and tender, but lacked any flavor even after I salted them to see if it would bring out any flavor. I tried this place after seeing it was rated as superior to "Singletons"...IMHO, it doesn't hold a candle to other area seafood.

“Great service, good food”
Reviewed December 14, 2012

The seafood market was packed with beautiful fish I've heard of and never heard of. They were displayed beautifully. Crowded at lunch but line went quickly and personnel was VERY helpful. Price certainly reasonable and quality of seafood (shrimp tacos and spinach cakes) was very good. Wait staff quick to bring out food and clean off tables. Lots of pelicans just walking around and sitting on the pier. A fun experience. I would go again!!

“Must Visit!”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

In area for a couple of days. First day stopped in a Walgreens in Jacksonville Bch. to ask about another restuarant. Clerk recommended Safe Harbor. A 15 drive from the store but it was MORE THAN WORTH IT! So much so that we are going back before we leave. The fish is not only very fresh, it is not piled up with lots of breading. You pay for fish, you get flavorful fish not a bunch of breading and grease. It was prepared to perfection. Shrimp and a white fish was what I had. Do not leave the Jacksonville area/Atlantic Beach area until you have eaten here. Not fancy, it is a "come as you are" place. The only downside, they close at 6pm. We really wanted to go back for dinner. So good! They will not disappoint.
