Delightful diner that takes you back to how things used to be. Food is good, portions are healthy and prices are appreciated.

We have eaten here several times and have always found the staff to be friendly and the food to be good. The Deli is often busy but that adds to the casual and informal atmosphere.

We were starved after antiquing our brains out one Saturday, and the menu posted outside the Oak Street Deli sounded just right. The deli counter service makes for a long wait, but the portions are vast and the food is good. My Greek salad with chicken was a little odd--the chicken seemed like oversized, boiled ground chicken, rather than the usual grilled slices, but it was ample and tasty. Bill ordered the salisbury steak special, also huge, but there was a chunk of mystery something in it--perhaps some of the chicken that had made its way in there. Ah well. This is home cooking, after all. And we did survive just fine.

If you get a chance (and if you're female, of course), check out the ladies room. It's like an antique shop in itself. Wish I'd taken a pic of that!

Had a late lunch here and will definitely be back everytime I'm in Arcadia. Even though I arrived near closing time, the service and food was exceptional. There was no problem finding things that had no dairy, including dessert and that's not easy in some restaurants. The sliders were fat and I was able to get a sample of each kind (ham, roast beef and turkey), instead of three of one kind. Everything was delicious and I was especially impressed with the turkey which wasn't the thin-sliced deli kind you usually get, but looked like home-roasted turkey. The server was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The whole place was very clean and I got a kick out of the walls which were covered with autographs of people who'd eaten at the deli before. Like them, I'll be back!

A wonderful, old-fashioned lunchroom where portions are large and everything is homemade. A bit of a wait for food, but that's the way it is when things are prepared to order. Eat here and you will see what you have been missing at the fast food chains.
