Wekiwa is beautiful! There is plenty of room to swim even though the place is usually packed! There's not a whole lot of room to set up your stuff around the water if it's busy, so get there early! Sometimes the noise from all the people can be annoying, but it's still a great place to visit when it's warm! All Florida Springs' water stays at about 72 degrees. There's also nature trails to walk. I definitely recommend canoeing here!! You can rent canoes which are fairly priced. You will see a lot of wildlife including gators, birds, fish, turtles, snakes, etc. If you're lucky enough, you might see a Florida Black Bear! If you canoe down the river for about 15 minutes, you'll come to a place that has a dock to park the canoes.. There is a bar there to enjoy a few adult beverages. I believe they sell food as well.
Overall, I would recommend visiting all of Florida's springs, including Wekiwa!

We enjoyed the day as we hiked the paths. Birds were everywhere! Then we went to the springs. Enjoyed swimming -even in January. Took a drive to Sand lake- quiet and the lake was calm and gorgeous. The springs had an option to rent canoes and kayaks. The Sand lake area had a place for horses.
Pleasant way to spend the day

We went to Wekiwa State Park 23 January. The area is really well set out. The boardwalks go over wetlands towards dry areas.the scenery is lovely, the peace and quiet is lovely. We walked through he trails and enjoyed the tranquility. We saw a deer, but it was too quick for us to take a photo.

Wekiwa Springs are that and more. Clear spring waters provide a natural swimming hole and canoeing and kayaking for all ages. Miles of hiking trails, bike and horse paths offer many ways of exploring this beautiful state park. The flora gives you an idea of what central Florida must have looked like before highways, motels, hotels, and DisneyWorld spread razed the land. It's beautiful. Camp grounds are available, and fishing is allowed on the Weikiwa River and Sand Lake with a license. Small fee per car, hiker, biker is charged.

We went here in our second week of our holiday and what a great find. Away. From all the theme parks in a lovely wooded area is a natural swimming area, you can picnic here or have a barbecue and lots of green space for sunbathing, you can hire canoes for a small charge too. There is a shop for snacks, lollies and souvenirs. We went for a walk in the woods and saw a deer and an armadillo oddly, but altogether a nice day out. I would recommend closed shoes on the walk in the wood due to ants and spiders and beware that gators do swim in the spring. Sadly I didn't see any.
