I booked this place based on it's many past recommendations, huge mistake! The first room we entered still had dirty linens in the bathroom. They quickly responded by allowing us to change rooms. However, our biggest complaint would be the age and desperate need for updating of the rooms. A simple change of carpet and mattress would suffice. B and B's are suppose to be romantic getaways, create the atmosphere!

This was our first visit to the Gibson Inn in Apalachicola and it was delightful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The history of the inn comes alive as you wander through the hallways and view the pictures on the walls. The rooms are extremely clean and well appointed. The bathroom was very spacious with a claw foot tub as well as a shower. The location of the Gibson is fantastic -- right downtown in the middle of everything. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: I do not think there is a bad room.

This was our 3rd visit to Apalachicola and the Gibson Inn. We were joined on this visit by my brother and his wife, who also fell in love with this place. Rooms are rustic, quaint and comfy. The wrap around porch, with its rocking chairs and tables, is the ideal spot for having an evening
drink and watching the sunset. The staff is friendly and accommodating. If you want something off the beaten path, just for a relaxing time, this is the place.

After flying the entire night from Bellingham, Washington, we intended to stay on the beach in PCB. We were looking for a small hotel on the water front but were greeted instead with these "huge" high rise condos resort. We drove and drove and inadvertently left PCB. To our delight we landed at the Gibson Inn in Apalachicola, having had no regrets.
I would rate this wonderful Inn 10 out of 10. I think this says it all.
My husband is British and he just felt very good about the place. Not very much to complain about.
This was built in 1907. How nice to stay in an old Victorian house that has history, character, and charm, instead of these horrible high rises which have no character or history. Amen
The staff: 10 out of 10.
I don't know why anyone would want to write a bad review on this place. After all, it is a Victorian Inn and it should feel like one.
We would definitely come back if we are in the area and would strongly recommend them to anyone.

Rang in 2014 at the Gibson inn-fun time with interesting folks. We had the suite above the bar and lobby-it's a great room (actually two rooms melded together) comfy bed and two bath rooms, separate sitting/tv room. Doors open out to balcony for views of both streets and the seafood festival when it's going on. Hotel is pet friendly and pretty insulated for those "yippy" occasions! Staff is friendly and helpful. Bar staff Marc, Miss Bonnie and the "New York New York gal" we're great bartenders and fun for the new year! We always enjoy the Gibson inn- whether spending the night or just stopping in for a beer!
Carpe Diem!

My husband and I make frequent trips to this area since it is just a short drive for us and we love the beach. We've been to The Gibson Inn before for meals before but never stayed there. Last month we went for a quick, spur-of-the-moment overnight trip and booked a room at The Gibson. We kept hearing so many good things from our friends about the Inn.

Our room was very small and the walls so thin we could hear everything going on in the other rooms. Indeed, the people in the room next to us were watching TV and guess what? Every time they changed the channel, our TV changed channels, too! It was pretty funny as my husband thought he was going insane.

The staff was great and the location can't be beat. There are probably other places in that area that may be nicer, better, etc, but chances are, when we return to Apalachicola we will stay here again. Only this time our expectations won't be so high.

Loved this historic hotel. Was nicely greeted and found our room to be outstanding. Loved the décor and how they paid attention to details. Had dinner here and the food was also outstanding. People were friendly and in fact had a nice chat with a Mother and daughter just spending some time together.

Room Tip: Most all the historic hotels do not have an elevator so be prepared and back lite:)

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Gibson Inn is a fine example of Florida "Cracker" Architecture. This was the style of wood frame structure used widely in the 19th and early 20th century in Florida. These homes and businesses are characterized by metal roofs, raised floors, high ceilings, center hallways, and large wrap around porches. A widows walk and cupola crown the tin roof, all a reflection of the area's steamboat past. Built in 1907 of native heart pine and black cypress, the inn soon became known as a first class luxury hotel and was the only one between Pensacola and Jacksonville heated entirely by steam. Now listed on the National Historic Register of Historic Places. Many of the 30 guest rooms are uniquely appointed with authentic antique furnishings, cable TV, telephone, and wireless internet. Each guest room has its own full private bath. ... more   less
