“One of the nicest places I've ever stayed.”
Reviewed June 16, 2010

The room and furnishings were beautiful. The view from our room was so nice right on the water. The service was excellent and everyone that we dealt with was so helpful and friendly. We had to leave early because of a medical emergency and they were very understanding. This was our first trip to the area and we want to go back and stay longer next time, and will most definitely stay at the Water Street Hotel. I have absolutely no complaints at all. Apalachicola is a small quaint town, not real touristy, so if you want lots of shops, restaurants, and night life you might want to go elsewhere, but if you're like us and just love the small town coastal lifestyle, love just relaxing on the beach and absolutely love to fish, it's a great place. And you couldn't do any better picking an accommodation than the Water Street Hotel. I thought it was well worth the price.

An accidental and fortunate find last summer. The best hotel stay of my life. Rooms are outstanding. Staff is fantastic. Location and views couldn't be better. Townsfolk are awesome. Was greeted by name everywhere on my second day out. Loved the Piggly Wiggly. The very best place to unwind.

This was a return visit for my husband and me. From the moment of check-in when you are welcomed with a glass of wine, you expect this to be a special place (and it is). While there are numerous excellent dining options nearby, simply sitting on the veranda watching the river roll by provides one some great R&R. The veranda is screened, by the way; hence no mosquitoes or flying insects to break one's reverie. The photo was taken through the screen and shows the Apalachicola River, one of America's treasures. The property is well maintained -- very clean. These accomodations are luxurious enough to pamper the most discriminating traveler yet provide a very relaxed experience in an old Florida setting.

Our hotel room which was really an an apartment, was beautifully furnished and spacious. It gave us the opportunity to do a little self-catering and after almost three weeks in the States of staying in Bed & Breakfast accommodations, that is precisely what we needed. We would highly recommend it. We appreciated the staff''s concern each day that we had everything we needed in our suite and felt that our stay of four nights there was both enjoyable and great value for money

A large group of friends have stayed at the Water Street Hotel & Marina for the past three years. Most have stayed here on other occassions. They advertise that they have a golf cart shuttle which we needed for one person in our group that was unable to walk any apprecible distance. The golf cart sat there three days but there was no one that could take anyone anywhere for dinner two nights and breakfast one morning when we requested it. When we said we would take the person that could not walk downtown and bring the cart right back the reply was "that is against policy". When asked about a cab they offered to get one for $70.00. This was for a four block ride. The staff didn't seem overly concerned about the problem or the individual that could not go eat with us.

A beautiful setting and wonderful rooms but don't count on all that is advertised being available.

WSHM, Operations Manager at Water Street Hotel & Marina, responded to this review, April 23, 2010
Since the start of the shuttle service, large parties and groups with special needs have made arrangements with the front desk to be sure that transportation was available when and where needed. Unfortunately I was unaware of their party members need for assistance, and though the person who normally drives the cart was out of town with a church function, I would have gladly found a way to accommodate their group.
It is my understanding that no one at the hotel was made aware of their need for a ride on Saturday until their group was ready to go to their destination. The front desk called for a cab from Croom’s Taxi service and was quoted $70.00. This is a service we are not in any way connected or associated with.
I am truly regretful that as manager, I was not aware of their needs. The Water Street Hotel, and myself as representative, strive at all times to make our guests as welcome and comfortable as possible.

We were so surprised when we opened the door to our beautiful suite. I had no idea that the place was more like a condo than a hotel room. After coming from a cramped room at a Disney resort hotel, this was a spacious, luxuriously decorated paradise. Our room had ample space for the three of us, a full kitchen stocked with cooking necessities, and a huge porch overlooking the creek, river, and bay. Also, the hotel was very quiet-at the end of Water street, which is mostly oyster processing plants and some awesome restaurants. Also, the price was great. We felt that we'd gotten a great deal!

This place must be seen to be believed! We had a beautifully decorated two-bedroom suite on the water with full kitchen, washer and dryer, and two bathrooms. We didn't want to leave. We bought groceries and ate dinner in our screened outdoor dining area.
