We were advised by a local to avoid Boss Oyster because they are an overpriced tourist trap. Well, we were hot and thirsty and happened to walk by Boss Oyster while shopping. Liked the look of the place so decided to stop in for a dozen raw and cold beer. We had a very friendly waitress that gave prompt service. Checked out the menu and didn't think the prices were out of line with the other restaurants we visited in the area. Saw The Journey's End listed on the menu and noted it had a few of our most favorite things combined into one sandwich. Fried oysters, scallops, and shrimp piled high on a ciabatta roll with an olive mustard spread. We ordered one to share, and relaxed on the porch enjoying tasty oysters, beer, and the view. Journeys End arrived. This is one huge sandwich! Glad we decided to share. Glad we decided to give Boss Oyster a try as we are still talking about "The Sandwich" a month after our trip!

Pros: outside seating right on the river - beautiful setting! Baked oysters were excellent!
Cons: service slow (but friendly) even though there were very few patrons when we were there; grilled redfish and fried grouper so-so - just kind of here.

If you are going for oysters and great ambience, I would recommend it; otherwise, not so much.

We enjoyed Boss Oyster. View is beautiful and staff was friendly. Compared to other places that we ate at in the area, however, it was just more expensive. Half the food at twice the price.

Nice setting on the river with entertaining boat activity. Outdoor seating. Fresh large raw oysters with many variations to chose from. Fried shrimp dinner could use a few more shrimp but very good taste wise. 1 lb steamed shrimp had very large shrimp with a good quantity but were a little overdone and very hard to peel...at $22 a pound they were one of the highest priced in the area we found from eating at other restaurants and viewing posted menus of restaurants around town, Have eaten here on several occasions and enjoy the atmosphere as well as the food.

The Boss is proud to continue to serve the Apalachicola bay oyster even when the catch has been diminished recently. The reason that we can do this is because for the last 23 years we have had our own oyster boats to freshly harvest your oyster. We are a seafood dealer with the federal and state license to capture the worlds best oyster and to deliver it to our docks by boat "no road time here". In addition we are the only oyster bar in the gulf coast that refrigerates our catch on our boats upon capture. This makes a difference. We preserve the worlds oyster the second we capture it. We promise that your oysters are chilled from bay to belly. Your oyster IS our world, Come see us. Prouldly Caroline and Larry Owners

We visit family every year in Florida. We always make the hour trip to Boss Oyster. Love the quaint atmosphere. If you like oysters this is the place to go. So many different ways to have oysters. You can not go wrong with the grouper either. We can not wait to return.

Thanks for your kind review, We also love this place. The Apalachicola Bay oyster is second to no oyster in the U.S. It is harvested (by law) with tongs and not dredgers. WE are the only oyster bar on the gulf coast that tongs your oyster on to refrigerated boats. This effort insures that your oyster is chilled from Bay To Belly This insures that our oyster is not only a Safe Oyster but a Happy Oyster. Put this one of a kind treat on ice the oyster stops pumping natural fluids and is preserved with its natural liquor. Like no other on the planet. Delicious, safe, guaranteed Apalachicola Bay oysters. Boss Oyster setting The Standard on the best oyster on the planet. Your Oyster is Our World!
