“Nice example of a port plantation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2012

The family here has provided a number of furnishings from their estates - giving it even more authenticity. Very narrow, steep stairs. Slave cabin will be demolished, but rebuilt as exact replica, we're told.

“DO NOT miss this!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2012

Beautiful old house and gorgeous grounds. The guide, Mr. Don Kennit, was full of interesting information and history about the house, the residents, the industries, and the town of the 1800's. The home is full of artifacts, beautiful furniture and even has a ghost or two!

“Do NOT miss this!!”

The historical value of Florida State Parks has got to the state's best kept secret. A tour of this beautiful piece of Florida history will give you more insight to Apalachicola's early days than an afternoon at the library The park guide Michael was great. He gave a very informative talk about the Orman family, the furnishings and past and present events in the house. Our family enjoyed it very much.

House was not open when we went, but lots of other things to see. The grounds were very pretty and well kept.
