We decided oysters were in order for Valentine weekend. Online and calls produced no rooms so we took a chance and just struck out knowing we would find something. The Rancho Inn was all that was available. No it is not all that pretty & kinda dated but it was clean and reasonable ($60 per night). Yes there are places closer to the water and more "foo-foo" but if you want a clean room try the Rancho.

we were traveling to florida with our dog and took a chance on winging it without making reservations as we traveled. we stopped at the Rancho Inn after driving into town and were surprised to find out that dogs were allowed. the room was very nice and large and was clean. the price was fair and the woman at the desk was very helpful. it was a very pleasant stay and i would stay there again.

We stayed at the Rancho Inn for a couple of nights and were immediately impressed by the kindness and hospitality of Marylynn and Lisa. They gave great recommendations and even drew a map of the area and highlighted must-sees. Our room the first night was a little musty and bothered my allergies, but the ladies happily moved us to another nicer, newer room for the next night. Large rooms and great value.

The Rancho is a clean and comfortable older motel. The staff is always friendly and helpful without being intrusive.
Apalach is a beautiful historic fishing village. Take a walk while you're there. Head out into the neighborhood behind the motel and enjoy the homes. With the wrap around porches and gingerbread, you can imagine you've stepped back in time. With a few twists and turns and maybe ten minutes of walking, you'll find yourself at Lafayette Park on the bay. It's a great place. You can relax and read a book, bring the kids and let them play, or if you want to fish, there's a great pier.
I have traveled here several times with and without the grandchildren. There is a nice pool for them to play in when we are not fishing. One of the rooms with an extra bedroom was great with the kids giving us plenty of room.
I'd like to address some negative reviews regarding noisy guests. I have never had any trouble of this type. The owner lives on site and would never knowingly let unruly guests intrude on another's stay . The review said the owner was out of town during their trip..that I believe.
Also, the wifi has been updated, no problem watching a movie or playing a game on the internet.
Bottom line...if you're looking for a clean, comfortable room at the best price in town, you'll find it at the Rancho Inn.

Room Tip: If you are worried about the internet, ask for a room nearer the office.

This was our second stay at Rancho Inn in the last few months. We stayed several days both times. All the staff was very attentive and those housekeepers go beyond the call of duty. It may be older but the cleanliness is very refreshing. I have stayed in brand new, highly rated motels other places that were no where nearly as clean. I also love and appreciated the down home southern hospitality.

First I want to say never judge a book by it's cover. I have stayed at the Rancho for the past two years traveling on business and have found it to be a very clean, comfortable motel. The exterior needs work, but I have stayed in 5 star hotels and 2 star hotels and have never found a cleaner room. A little dated, but very comfortable. The only problem I have ever had there was with internet access, but a word to the front desk leads to the modem being rebooted and the internet problem is solved. I have read other reviews about the Rancho and frankly believe that many travelers are a little over critical. I love this friendly motel and have always been satisfied with my stay and will continue to stay in the future. If you are looking for 4 or 5 star hotel, this is not the place for you, but if you are looking for a comfortable motel, for a great price and willing to accept older decor that is as clean as any motel or hotel I have ever stayed in. Give the Rancho Inn a try. I think you will be pleasently surprised. There is no fitness center or restaurant
