We stayed 2 nights. View was awesome and overlooking the river but too hot unless you turned off the air conditioner which blew hot air onto balcony. The complementary breakfasts were fabulous and the room was good except for the air conditioner. It blew directly on the bed so I spent the night getting up to turn it off because it was so cold and then got hot and turned it back on. There was no thermostat; just on hi or low. The dust in the room along with the air conditioner contributed to sinus problems I am dealing with now. There was construction because of a recent fire there and that may be the source of the dust; the blinds were dust filled. Also, the water was off on the first day and the housekeeper just left towels and nothing else. No tissues, which were out when we arrived. I stopped by the front desk and asked for some tissues they said housekeeping was gone for the day. Since there were stains on spread that appeared to be blood I went to find housekeeper and she said the stains were nail polish, not blood, but they had no other spreads. I asked them to launder the spread and then they put the same one back on. The breakfasts were great!! The view was great also. The location was excellent!

Room Tip: Room 17 or higher on 2nd floor if you want to be away from restaurant....

Nice hotel right on the river. Our room was clean and quiet with a comfortable bed. Screened porch on the back of the room overlooked the river. One free drink and a free breakfast come with the room. They have two different restaurants depending on the cost and type of dining you are looking for. I would stay here again.

The location is nature's wonder. Find the inn. The Apalachicola is the largest river in Florida. The natural scenery across the river is as it has been for centuries. The River inn is the only inn directly on the river in Apalachicola and the only one that ever will be. Bring the family, the cooked to order breakfast is on us including your children. Bring your fishing poles. The hardhead catfish are here now. Be prepared to catch them. Large enough pound test to catch a 5 pound fish at least a half pound weight to fish on the bottom. Bring shrimp for bait or buy at Wilson's two blocks up the river. These are not good eating but they will be a thrill for your children to catch. If you fish at the inn property the children do not need a license. Be experienced please because these fish can sting when you unhook them. Please protect your children if you fish . I only invite you to fish if you want to give the young fisher children in your life a SAFE thrill and parent responsible thrill . In this endeavor we are not responsible you are Find the inn Larry

Room had 70's decor - functional and comfortable....so okay, but once you step outside its awesome. Beautful location, abundant birdlife, the occasional dolpin and mantee (or dugong)..all to seen from the porch, or walking to and from the restaurant, bar and breakfast areas. Local oysters are simply magnificent...even for breakfast. We stayed 1 night on our way from New Orleans to Cocoa Beach...so as a "halfway" stop.....it exceeded expectations.

Room Tip: It's a great location, so if you are going to spend a few days....chat the staff about the "...

One night stay 5-19-12, felt like the room is very over priced for what you get. There was a group of six motorcycle riders checking in and we had to wait 15 minutes as the desk clerk was more concerned with selling T shirts to two young ladies than our check in. The rooms and bath were clean and neat, deck overlooked river but view obscured by rusty screen to keep the birds off of rail. At $184 per night you would expect some of the normal amenities, no alarm clock, no wifi, no hair dryer, no morning coffee service, only basic cable on tv. This was a Saturday night so they have a lounge on the upper level with music and singers that go on until midnight, so do not plan on sleeping before this shuts down. Either of the two restaurants on property are very good. They do give you tickets for two free drinks from the lounge and breakfast at Caroline, but at this room rate I do not call them free. Would not recommend for short stay.

Room Tip: Lower numbered rooms

Allows pets, all sorts of restaurants nearby. BTW very pet friendly town.Never had a bad experience. We stay on bottom floor(Dock Level) and love to have a rum and coke and sit on the deck for sunset. Have been back twice.

On our way from Miami baack to the Blue Ridge Mountains, we try to stop at the Apalachicola River Inn. This time we had a queen room with a lovely wicker setee and rocking chair. This room was really wonderful and cozy. We had our two Mini daschunds with us and they just loved it too. It was wonderful to sit in our room or outside with our pups and enjoy the gorgeous scenery. What a lovely way to spend some time. The outside gazebo of Carolines restaurant was expecially nice since we could take the dogs.Everything was great the only suggestion is to add 2 luggag racks and perhaps another lamp to the rooms. Keep up the good work we'll be back!!!

Room Tip: Second floor rooms have private patios. Frst floor rooms have open walkway patios but they are not...
