My husband really enjoyed the oysters! The grouper was fresh and very tasty. Great waterfront location.

“Awesome Oysters!”
Reviewed May 28, 2014 via mobile

Great place for amazing oysters. Very casual. No frills. Order at the counter - get your condiments and the rest is brought to your table. Can have your dog on the back deck, too.

“Great view if you sit on porch”
Reviewed May 27, 2014

The good - View from porch, the Mediterranean steamed oysters, and the crab cakes.
The bad - a lot of self-service that no one explains well, little to no customer service while a bunch of young staffers stand around behind a counter, the raw oysters were warm and brought to table with no horseradish and no explanation that it was on the salad bar (we found this out by seeing a neighboring table do this), the fried green tomatoes served with a crab cake were flavorless, and overall very overpriced and a just ok experience.

“Expectations fulfilled”
Reviewed May 17, 2014

We stayed just one night in Apalachicola and on the day of our visit it was raining, so we did not eat on the deck outside. The place being famous for serving fresh oysters, we ordered the classic, Mediterranean and "Southern" fella varieties (all steamed). We were not disappointed. They were fresh and delicious and in no way over cooked. With that we ordered Conch and Crab Cakes, maybe the best of our tour along the gulf coast. Just for fun we added an Alligator Burger to the mix, which surprised us with its consistency and softness. The place itself has a nice, simple, uncomplicated and - thanks to the high ceiling - airy vibe. We got served in a quick, friendly and attentive manner. A wonderful experience and worth a detour.

“Baker's Dozen”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

After a disappointing lunch at Boss', we decided to try Appalachicola again. This time, lunch was at Up the Creek. You have to climb steep steps to get there but I understand there is an elevator somewhere in back. They hand you a menu and you order at the counter and they give you a number. You seat yourself and we sat out on the porch overlooking the boats and the water. My oysters came on a tray with a slice of lemon. They were Appalachicola oysters and there were 13. They were slightly warm, not served on ice and no horseradish or cocktail sauce. We did find out when we were leaving that the salad bar inside had that available. My husband had a gator burger. It was huge but he did say a little too salty. The extra oyster wasn't enough to make my day.
