“Amazing Romantic Getaway”
Reviewed July 14, 2009

We had a fabulous romantic weekend getaway for our 10th anniversay. The Coombs House Inn is located in a small, slow paced town, rich with history, and nestled in the heart of great, fresh seafood. There's not much nightlife but if your looking for a romatic getaway this is the place to go. We will be returning soon!

Immediately upon arrival we felt like we were visiting with family. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay an unforgettable experience. Estelle, the Inn Keeper, always put our needs and comfort first and was a joy to talk to. She has hired a great staff. The dining room and music made for a very relaxting atmosphere. We definitely will be returning to this beautiful inn.

The Coombs Inn is a gracious old Southern charmer, full of hospitality and warmth. They anticipated our every need and were willing to give us the insider's tips about where to visit, when to go, how to get there, what to expect. It was a leisurely and relaxing stay in an old fashioned small town atmosphere. We felt quite "at home" and welcomed at the Coombs Inn.

Just completed our second stay at the Coombs House Inn. Our room had the most comfortable bed. Dreamy! The staff was helpful and made sure that we had everything we needed. Upon checking in we found our room to be nice though the cleaning ladies overdid the spray some. Aired out and was better. The room we had was on the highway side and was a little noisy, but it WAS a holiday weekend. The breakfast was yummy-French toast wih pecans and blueberry topping. Our only concern was the warmness of the room we had. It was pretty hot on the 3rd. We inquired and managed to use our ceiling fan the whole time. Great dinner at the Grill and lots of walking downtown. Beautiful sunset! We especially appreciate Estella who made our comfort a priority. Thanks!!!

We arrived late at this lovely Inn, but found easily our room. The Cloister Suite was very clean, well appointed, comfortable, and a nice respite after our drive. A cute little kitchen was there which would have been a nice convenience if someone were staying longer. Our room was in a separate building from the main house which suited us just fine. The Inn served a nice breakfast in the gorgeously restored dining room (paneled in Black Cypress wood) which started our day out well. They also had bikes available to the guests, as well as beach towels and chairs. Certainly a beautiful Inn that has been lovingly restored. Do ask to see the before and after pictures of the building, as you will be amazed! We also asked the locals where to get good oysters for lunch and we were directed to Papa Joe's Oyster House. A little off the beaten path and certainly no-frills but they had extremely delicious oysters (we had both oysters in the half shell and on a po'boy) for an amazing price.

The Coombs House Inn was a perfect place for our 25th anniversary. The breakfast was great, served the minute you walk in the door. We used the complimentary umbrella, towels, and chairs to go to the nearby beaches which are BEAUTIFUL and it is like having your own private beach. We went to the TWO BIT stables and rode horses on Cape San Blas at SUNSET> it was unreal, the dolphins were swimming right long with us so close to the shore we could've gotten in the water and touched them. Beleive me I wanted to get off that horse and jump in with the dolpins. We stayed in THE CLOISTER and it was perfect for us because we could smoke on the private veranda. The staff was wonderful, so welcoming, and helpful in any and every way.
