“Friendly, relaxing, fun atmosphere”

The Coombs Inn was a relaxing, friendly, and fun atmosphere. The town it sits in is quiet and has delicious foods! We thoroughly enjoyed riding bikes provided by the Inn at no charge. The wine and cheese hour, breakfast, and cookies were wonderful. The Inn's manager was the most engaging, friendly, and well let me put it this way- It was as if we knew her for years.

We stayed 2 nights at the historic Coombs House Inn to break up our journey and had a very pleasant stay. Our room (Heron) was in the original old house which is stunning and has been wonderfully restored. The room was large, with direct access on to a shared verandah, and furnished with lovely antique style items. Breakfasts were delicious and filling, and served in a wood pannelled dining room.

The staff we met were all without exception, friendly and helpful. They had restaurant recommendations and suggestions of things to do in the area. We enjoyed a day at St George Island, as well as wandering round downtown Apalachicola with its historic buildings, interesting shops and working docks.

We had a beautiful room (No. 17) and our anniversary was on the 17th so this was ideal for us. The inn provided cookies and coffee/tea each afternoon, wine, cheese, and crackers on the weekend afternoons, and a fabulous breakfast each morning. My husband and I biked around town and made it down to beautiful Lafayette Park on the yellow "Coombs Inn" bikes. (The innkeeper said to just leave the bikes outside if we went in anywhere because all in town knew where the bikes belong.) The inn is located in a lovely town, with thoughtful owners/caretakers, with wonderful romantic settings all around...and great dining out as well. We will definitely be back again.

We did have to ask that our toilet be cleaned (maid must have missed ours) and our Jacuzzi tub didn't work. However, I am not marking down for these things because for the service, amenities, location, value, and romance factor, the Coombs House Inn cannot be beat!

  • Liked — Friendly staff, beautiful room, great location, wondeful food at Inn and the city
  • Disliked — Jacuzzi tub didn't work; had to ask for our toilet to be cleaned

We found the Coombs Inn Bed and Breakfast to be a lovely home and nicely restored. The keepers at the Inn were extremely friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was far more than we anticipated which encouraged us to sit in the dining area enjoying the available readings and conversation. It was such a bonus to be able to walk wherever we wanted to go for dinner, to shop, or to sit by the water's edge. I look forward to returning to the Coombs for another getaway.

Reservations via their internet site was quick and easy!

We loved our visit to the Coombs House Inn. We were looking for a nice quite place to spend a long week end. The management of the Inn were great. They were there when you needed them but they never bothered you. It was like being in your own home.

The town was very "layed back" and the food was outstanding.
( Chef Ed's and the Owl Cafe )

To spend a nice getaway with a loved one , the Coombs Inn was perfect.
