My spouse and I go to the gulf coast of FL every year during the first week of March for a week of sun; try new places each time looking for beach front ambiance as well as value -- don't have to have super ritzy amenities or personal service -- but upscale feel to the area is important and a spanky clean room is imperative. Anna Maria is mostly middle class residential with nice (but not grand) beachfront homes. A lot of places are for sale, and the neighborhood around Bungalow Beach Resort, including privately owned "resorts" with cabins or low cement block buildings, seems somewhat rundown. There are several casual restaurants -- all we tried were good. BBR's cabins are cute but obviously not kept in top condition; I know, this is old-Florida style and supposed to be that way, but still. The decor inside and out is white-on-white shabby-chic with hand-painted cherubs on the cieling. #106 was their least expensive at @ $250 per night; Tiny galley-like kitchenette and bath and way too soft and lumpy couch with TV. It was tidy and acceptable if only super clean -- I am picky this way. Spots of tomatoe sauce (I hope) on the bedspread. Grunge along floorboards. Bathroom wall around light switch was filthy. Mold along bath cauling. Microwave on top of fridge had not been cleaned under in a very long time. Bed was very, very soft -- some may like this, we couln't sleep well. Temperature was impossible to control with wall air conditioner -- didn't help sleepability. There were 4 minutes of hot water which took 45 minutes to refill. No extra towels nor means to get any (on a beach one needs these). No beach view at all from unit (which may have made the price reasonable), but small beach area is nice and it's a gorgeous beach with short frontage. We had booked four nights but decided to leave after the first. Had to wait for someone to arrive to check us out at 10:45 am. Some question as to whether they would charge for the nights we had booked, which blew my mind a bit -- if one is unhappy with the accomodations this should not be questioned at all by the hotelier. The owner's neice handled this professionally when I talked to her on the phone.

This was our third time at this resort. We have always loved the location, the cozy, intimate feel of the place and the absolutely best view on the island. We were disappointed to find a dirty room-it's important to note that it is an all white room, where cleanliness becomes paramount! The white duvet had a yellow tinge and stains, which indicated it had not been washed in a while. There were very few towels, one bar of soap and a huge bottle of shower cleaner in the shower- where we supposed to clean our own shower?
They never came to refresh our room the next day, they only changed the towels-one towel per person!
Regrettably, we cannot recommend this hotel any longer and, sadly, we'll have to find new accommodations next time we visit our beloved Anna Maria Island.

We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary here and could not have made a better choice. The bungalow was romantic, roomy, nicely furnished and the view was breathe taking, The location is perfect. Not only is it directly on the beach, but we were able to walk most places we wanted to. It was a perfect get away spot and we plan to make this an annual stay.

We have stayed at BBR several times and will return. The room we stayed in was steps from the white sand beach. It also gave us the option of sitting on the porch or taking a few steps to take in the amazing sunsets. We can not wait to stay again at one of our favorite places.
