“Casual, Delicious, Great View...”
Reviewed October 17, 2010

When researching our trip we mostly found results for Rod & Reel. We decided to try lunch at the City Pier one day and it was significantly better when it comes to service, quality, and atmosphere. It is more spacious and the staff was very friendly. The food was wonderful. Between the four of us there was not one bad dish. The lobster bisque was delicious. The group sandwiches were better than what was had the night before, and the blackened shrimp and fried shrimp both hit the spot!

We topped it off with the best key lime pie we had all week. Although not made in the restaurant, a lady in town makes the desserts fresh for the City Pier.

Of course...the great view didn't hurt either!

“Great View, shame the food wasn't better”
Reviewed August 30, 2010

We visited Anna Maria Island for a weeks vacation from the UK 4-11 August after a hectic week at Disney. Anna Maria Island is fantastic tonic to Disney, a sleepy beach town with a laid back attitude. Our Villa was a short walk from The City Pier and this was our second restaurant visted. (If you are interested in a quality villa then check out Honeyfish at Pineapplefish.com - FAB villa on the water.)
The City Pier Restaurant has excellent views out of the windows and there were dolphins swimming in the Gulf. We did some fishing whilst we waited to get a Table inside. The interior is a bit shabby ('greasy cafe style') but thankfully cool , outside was Hot Hot Hot.
The service was good and very pleasant although I would say the waitress was very rushed as the place was very busy at 6pm. Our food selection was variable, local fish and shrimp and chicken . The food was good (I had the blackened Mahi Mahi) and plentiful and there were absolutely no complaints from the children. Dessert was a combination of pies and icecream which went down very well.
Cost was 200 dollars including soft drinks and a couple of glasses of wine and tip, I would say that compared to the other meals we had on this trip, this was quite expensive for the general quality. I would recommend to anyone on vacation but don't expect Michelin grade food and be prepared for a wait if going at a busy time.

“great place for dining with kids”
Reviewed August 27, 2010

we were a party of 10 - four adults and six children - and were sceptical to get a table at all without prior reservation. It took a mere thirty minutes and great efforts by the service people to organise us a great table outside on the deck! The food was fantastic, very creative and flavourable seafood dishes as well as the typical kids dinners.
The location is perfect because the kids can either watch other people fishing on the pier - it is cramped almost every night - or they can even fish themselves. Rods and gear can be rented for 3 bucks and it is great fun for the kids. Also we dads enjoyed pre-dinner beers and fishing with the boys.

“One of Top Ten Best French Fries in America”
Reviewed August 12, 2010

Restaurant at the end of a very long fishing pier with dolphins swimming by and people catching fish. Think fish guts, flies, and splintery wood. However, the french fries were awesome!!! Had a crunchy texture and were light and not greasy. The waiter could of used a clean t-shirt and a better attitude, but the view outside made up for it. I would eat there again. We also ate at "The Sandbar" which has a really good reputation and is much more expensive, but the food was average and the service was not much better.
