We stayed on Longboat Key for a week and found this place. It was very small and at first seemed to be just for locals but after a few visits, we found it to be a very nice place to visit for cocktails or a meal. It is very nice to be out on the water and eat dinner, enjoy cocktails, or just watch the fisherman try to catch something. We will be back again...

Always great food, especially seafood omelet! Great view, I take everyone here when they visit and we always repeat before they go home! Well worth the visit, every time!

Sunday morning breakfast mid April. Get there early, place has limited seating. Located above fishing pier. Food is good, good portions, fast service. One of the best views on the island.

We finally got back to the 'new' Rod & Reel Pier Restaurant after it suffered a destructive fire emergency last November. December it didn't reopen, January 2014 still closed, February 2014 we left for a bit, April we're back AND it's open!!!…AND better than ever!!!

Just a 20 minute on a beautifully sunny day, waves rolling on the horizon. 20 minutes lets you have time to get a Yuengling at the downstairs bar…AND…a glass filled to overflowing of Pinot Grigio for the lady!!! and wander around the restaurant watching the fishermen fish, and the stingrays/pelicans looking for a free snack.

Seating location didn't matter to us…the 'new' place looks so great…and Beth, the perfect server was prompt, got our food as soon as it got placed on the kitchen table, and made sure we had our second round of refreshments. The lady had the small order of fish and chips, while I was overwhelmed by the size of the large order of fish and chips. Cooked to perfection, with fabulous fries, and cole slaw, we had enough fish left over to take it home for another meal.

So the ambience, food and service just couldn't be better.

One small issue….the washrooms of course continue to be on the lower level, and only one at a time….and the restaurant is not for the physically challenged as the only way into the restaurant upstairs is 'up the stairs'. Plan B is to sit in the bar area on the water level.

OOPS…the views are fantastic!!!

We have been coming here to eat breakfast for almost 20 years. It was always fantastic . tragically a fire destroyed the place a bit , although it was redone and looks great, the owner seems to gave.used the remodel for a excuse to make portions smaller, more expensive and just not good..its a damn
Shame.one of my favorite places is now another Anna Maria tourist trap.sadly no more breakfast's for me.Also I don't want to even guess what they were using for cheese.it looked like plastic...SHAME
