“Fish and Chips and Beth the Server…a fabulous match”
Reviewed April 10, 2014

We finally got back to the 'new' Rod & Reel Pier Restaurant after it suffered a destructive fire emergency last November. December it didn't reopen, January 2014 still closed, February 2014 we left for a bit, April we're back AND it's open!!!…AND better than ever!!!

Just a 20 minute on a beautifully sunny day, waves rolling on the horizon. 20 minutes lets you have time to get a Yuengling at the downstairs bar…AND…a glass filled to overflowing of Pinot Grigio for the lady!!! and wander around the restaurant watching the fishermen fish, and the stingrays/pelicans looking for a free snack.

Seating location didn't matter to us…the 'new' place looks so great…and Beth, the perfect server was prompt, got our food as soon as it got placed on the kitchen table, and made sure we had our second round of refreshments. The lady had the small order of fish and chips, while I was overwhelmed by the size of the large order of fish and chips. Cooked to perfection, with fabulous fries, and cole slaw, we had enough fish left over to take it home for another meal.

So the ambience, food and service just couldn't be better.

One small issue….the washrooms of course continue to be on the lower level, and only one at a time….and the restaurant is not for the physically challenged as the only way into the restaurant upstairs is 'up the stairs'. Plan B is to sit in the bar area on the water level.

OOPS…the views are fantastic!!!

“Total shame”
Reviewed April 10, 2014 via mobile

We have been coming here to eat breakfast for almost 20 years. It was always fantastic . tragically a fire destroyed the place a bit , although it was redone and looks great, the owner seems to gave.used the remodel for a excuse to make portions smaller, more expensive and just not good..its a damn
Shame.one of my favorite places is now another Anna Maria tourist trap.sadly no more breakfast's for me.Also I don't want to even guess what they were using for cheese.it looked like plastic...SHAME

“Not as good”
Reviewed April 10, 2014

Our son was visiting from Philadelphia so we wanted him to experience the Rod and Reel! It was a disaster! When we got there found the wait would be 1 hour and 45 minutes! We tried to get a beer for ever and the downstairs bar and never got waited on. In the meantime, we looked at the menu and found the prices, since reopening, have escalated! Very disappointed that they have done this. Seems like a tourist trap now! We left and went elsewhere. Our son did not want to wait and when he couldn't even get a beer that was the end! Too bad they have spoiled what was a very quaint place with reasonable prices!!!

“Excellent meal!”
Reviewed April 7, 2014

This restaurant was recommended by friends and did not disappoint! The grouper was excellent. My 10 year old proclaimed the chicken tenders great! The Cole Slaw had a great island flair. It's a real casual place with an amazing view. We even saw a dolphin while we waited for a table. Hope to make it back before we leave.

“Best part of going is the waiting area (pier)”
Reviewed April 6, 2014 via mobile

Lost our name on wait list. Put us inside when we asked for outside. Had to beg for coffee refills. Got cheddar cheese instead of the provolone I asked for. Very loud and slow service. I don't get the interest. We won't go back.
