Unbeatable location right on the beach, very nice food, a little tucked away, couldn't find anywhere to park our car until we realised they had valet parking. It would be a great place to watch a sunset but we couldn't (see below)

The only minus is that there was no atmosphere and the staff seemed a little "deflated" BUT.. it had just rained almost all day, the island was waterlogged and the skies were dull and grey, quite a miserable day in fact so that's why I'm still giving 4 stars.
Will try again in August (hopefully it will be sunny) :)

I have visited the Sandbar restaurant many many times over the years and have to say that the recent refurbishment has only improved what was a great restaurant. The food is good but you won't be blown away by it! The view on the other hand is to die for! Our most recent visit was during the spring break and we had to wait nearly two hours for a table outside for dinner. Just go with the flow, enjoy a couple of cocktails and take in the wonderful views. You should be on island time anyway!! Don't miss the sunset! We always try to get a table on the sand. I can think of nothing nicer than enjoying your meal with your feet in the icing sugar sand as the sun finally sets on another perfect day on the Island. Yes the Sandbar is probably one of my favourite restaurants if only for its location. There was no live music the night we visited and this was disappointing. We have enjoyed this before and I am not sure if this may only be provided on weekends. If on the Island I would say definately don't miss a Sandbar experience.
As a note aside I would also like to say, more to Management, that your merchandise has not withstood the test of time. A Sandbar mug which was purchased last year is now so faint that it is difficult to make out what was originally written on it. Perhaps just not dishwasher proof!

We were rather disappointed with some of our food! Were looking forward to taking our son there, who was visiting from Phillie! There was no happy hour or live music, which disappointed him. We ordered baked clams and they were literally brown on the top and hard because they were baked too long! We had baked crab stuffed grouper, it was fresh but not what we expected. A very small serving, sort of in a circle with a small spoonful of stuffing in the middle. Expected a decent piece of filet with stuffing in the middle or on top. It was very small. My husband had the crab stuffed shrimp which were very good. I feel that they are charging alot for what you get. I realize they have a wonderful location, however, which they would pay more attention to their food. So many places on AMI have a happy hour with live music and they have the perfect spot to do the same!!
