The view is great with the mystical waters of the Gulf of Mexico only steps away. The food on the other hand is not great. The grouper combo I had there today was bland and had no taste and the fries were overloaded with season salt. My wife had the Tuna Tropic that she gets every time.
This meal is usually made with a blend of fruit as the mixing agent they used mayonnaise which is not the healthy choice or what they have done for the last 12 years. I understand there is a need to change up the menu but the standards should be left alone and the recipe followed.

Over all I have been visiting Anna Maria for the last 35 years of my life and always loved it. We always visit the Sand Bar restaurant with Ed Chiles the owner for 15 of them and the restaurant is always consistent. It has average food with a great view. Service was OK, Although, the waitress assuming there was no change necessary as she assumed all the money left from the check was her tip she never brought back any change. Bad Idea as we may have given her a huge bonus tip as it is the holidays and we are always VERY generous during this time of year.
Her mistake.
If you want Great Food I suggest one of the new micro restaurants along Pine ave.

Enjoy ANNA MARIA island as it is the last place in Florida that is the closest to Old Florida as it gets.

You cannot find a better place to eat and be amazed at the beauty of the water and the beach. This restaurant is directly on Anna Maria Beach and you can even put your feet in the sand while you eat at several tables! The Grouper sandwich is excellent! You must visit if you are in the area!

This is a place can sit outside with your toes in white sand and enjoy a great lunch. I had a grouper rueben, one of my favorites when visiting and this was one of the best I've had. Service was great, no rushing to turn the table as in many places, generous pours on the rum and coke too :) Enjoyed and will be back!

Went there on a friday around 3pm to celebrate a birthday. Wait was about 10-15 minutes. The place can get crowded, but well worth it. Was expecting for the tables to be outside on the sand, but is underneath a patio-like terrace. Got a table closest to the sand. The cool sand felt great on your feet while drinking a beer. Great view of the beach while eating. Odered calamari and shrimp for starters. Calamari was excellent! Fresh and perfectly seasoned. The shrimp was also very fresh. Great way to start. Ordered the blackened mahi sandwich because they ran out of grouper. It was excellent! Once again, the freshness was noticeable. The wife ordered the seafood platter, she really enjoyed it. Highly recommend this place. Very good service by the staff.

Not only the Sandbar has the best location (you can literally sit on a table on the sand!), but this is the best key lime pie I've ever had. A must!
Awesome seafood as well and good service,
