The view is great with the mystical waters of the Gulf of Mexico only steps away. The food on the other hand is not great. The grouper combo I had there today was bland and had no taste and the fries were overloaded with season salt. My wife had the Tuna Tropic that she gets every time.
This meal is usually made with a blend of fruit as the mixing agent they used mayonnaise which is not the healthy choice or what they have done for the last 12 years. I understand there is a need to change up the menu but the standards should be left alone and the recipe followed.
Over all I have been visiting Anna Maria for the last 35 years of my life and always loved it. We always visit the Sand Bar restaurant with Ed Chiles the owner for 15 of them and the restaurant is always consistent. It has average food with a great view. Service was OK, Although, the waitress assuming there was no change necessary as she assumed all the money left from the check was her tip she never brought back any change. Bad Idea as we may have given her a huge bonus tip as it is the holidays and we are always VERY generous during this time of year.
If you want Great Food I suggest one of the new micro restaurants along Pine ave.
Enjoy ANNA MARIA island as it is the last place in Florida that is the closest to Old Florida as it gets.
