“Grab a table outside for sunset”
Reviewed November 10, 2013 via mobile

Amazing beach restaurant.
Take a break from the beach at lunchtime and settle down to some great food and maybe a cheeky cocktail or two!
But make sure you head back to catch the sunset later. It's one of the most amazing views you'll get on the island. Absolutely beautiful.
They also have tables inside serving amazing seafood and incredible steaks. Definitely worth a visit more than once! If not only for the food...that sunset never gets old!

“Great Lunch”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

We came in for lunch, having visited the day before. With a website name groupersandwich.com, it sounded like my kind of place. I didn't, however, get the famous grouper sandwich, but the grouper reuben. It was fantastic, though the marble rye was a tad over-toasted. The fish itself was perfect.

Service was fast and cheerful. The only bad review I saw was people trying to stay at 10:15. They close at 10 so I can see the staff trying to clean up.

The view is fantastic, of course and the prices are reasonable. If you're in the area, you owe it to yourself to try the place.

“Stunning location, pretty decent food”
Reviewed November 9, 2013

My 5 out of 5 is more for the location and sunset views than the food, but don't get me wrong, the food is good too (although more a 4 out of 5 than a 5 out of 5).

We visited in early November 2013, so arriving at 5.30 meant a great view of the sunset. We were a party of 10, including 4 kids aged 2 to 7. Although the place was busy we were able to get seated without delay. The waitresses were fantastic, immediately bringing activity packs for the kids, and then later on asking if all 4 of them would like to ring the bell at the point of sunset, which of course they were all delighted to do!

I ate the Surf and Turf - a 10oz steak and 5 grilled shrimp - which I was very pleased with, and the rest of the food throughout the group seemed to go down well. There was plenty of choice on the children's menu as well.

I have eaten several times at the BeachHouse just down the road on Bradenton Beach over the past 10 years, but with its renovation ongoing during this trip we opted for Sandbar instead. We enjoyed it so much that Sandbar will definitely be the preferred option when we next return.

“Nice View”
Reviewed November 9, 2013

We chose to come her for our anniversary dinner. We called hours before going to request a reservation on one of their beach side tables. We were told they don't take reservations but to be there by 5-6, and there would be no issues. We arrived at 5, and waited over two hours, after they gave our actual table away to a different couple. Once we finally were seated, LONG after the sunset... the food was mediocre. View is great if you can get it, but would go someplace else next time.

“AMI must do”
Reviewed November 9, 2013

The Sandbar is located on the north end of AMI. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. I suggest eating outside at a table in the sand. The Sandbar is known for their grouper sandwich. My family had a grilled grouper sandwich, fried grouper sandwich, a kid's cheeseburger, and key lime pie. The grouper is the best from AMI to Venice Beach.
