We've eaten at the Sandbar many, many times over the last 18 years, and while the food has rarely been spectacular, it is nearly always good and the setting on the beautiful Anna Maria Beach is always worth it.
We were seated almost immediately, which is rare! I always say that during the midst of a hurricane, there would still be a half hour wait at the Sandbar! Our table was right on the sand, perfect for sunset viewing, but really difficult to slide a chair in and out!
Service was prompt and friendly. I had the island salad, reliably delicious and unusual, then the grouper with lemon and caper sauce and a baked potato. I am not particularly a seafood fan, but I do love grouper and, prepared this way, it was really good! Also, I must comment on the potato; it was a real BAKED potato, with a crispy skin, not steamed in foil! I also was lucky enough to have a double helping of perfectly done asparagus, because my husband won't eat it.
Oh, and the sunset was one of the most beautiful we have ever seen on the island! A lovely evening, even if we didn't have the winning entry in the "guess the time of sunset" contest!
