4 of us visited Sandbar at happy hour on a Tuesday evening. We sat at the bar and split calamari and squid. Food was good, nothing spectacular. We also had a couple drinks each - bartenders were friendly. Good atmosphere.

We returned 2 nights later for dinner. We all had variations of the Grouper and really liked it. Blackened was the favorite.

This is really the only waterfront place in Holmes Beach/Anna Maria.

Arrived at the Sandbar Restaurant around 6:30 pm on Friday evening. The valet was busy and the restaurant had a one hour wait. I was pleasantly surprised that a server offered to bring us drinks while we waited (in lieu of us having to wait in line to purchase drinks). Thus allowing us to stand in close proximity to an outdoor heater yet maintain an excellent view of the ocean.

Upon getting our table, our food service was quick. We had drinks, salad and bread on our table within 5 minutes. We both ordered grouper and thoroughly enjoyed it.

This restaurant provides fresh seafood in tandem with excellent service while providing an excellent view. Worth the wait.

Sandbar is a restaurant on the beach - literally! You can watch the sunset while waiting for your table. The food was improved over last year (I loved the coconut shrimp salad) in that it seemed lighter and fresher. We also ate here for lunch a couple of times, sat at the bar, which serves the same menu. Very nice place.

This place is awesome for the views and fun, but food has always been on the Ok side. I do recommend it to out of state visitors because it is a nice place directly on the beach, you can actually sit on the beach with your toes in the sand.

We were recommended this by friends who had visited the island before and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is right on the beach and a great spot to enjoy good food and watch the world go by. Unfortunately, they do not take reservations, so be prepared for a long wait (2 hours during spring break), but the children were happy playing on the beach whilst we looked on with a mojitio!

A must if you are visiting the island.
