“Visiting Altamonte Springs, Fl”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

When visiting Altamonte Springs, Fl don't miss Crane's Roost Park. Clean, always busy with walkers and families, lots of events going on. Feed the turtles and ducks or just sit and enjoy the view! Close to Altamonte Mall, restaurants and AMC theatre.

“Well, it's a terrific retention pond!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

You know the saying ... if life gives you lemons, make lemonade!! The City of Altamonte Springs has made a LOVELY public attraction of what it basically a HUGE retention pond. The Altamonte Mall is on one side; a number of condos, offices, and apartments are on the other side, and a very convenient four lane connector road ties Palm Springs Drive to Montgomery Road dividing the two. The road is a great way to avoid a lot of traffic on SR 436. Leaving all that aside, Cranes Roost Park is hugely attractive. A boardwalk around the pond, which is REALLY big. I see LOTS of people using it for walking and jogging and feeding whatever it is they're feeding with bread. There's an amphitheater, and it's where lots of public celebrations are held, including the big 4th of July celebration. There is only one drawback ... dogs are not welcome. There's food readily available in the mall or in the Renaissance Center. If you're a walker, they are within walking distance. There are no elevators, that I'm aware of, and there ARE stairs. Since I live close by, I drive by this place all the time. There always seem to be lots of folks enjoying it. I can't be sure about wheelchair access; however, considering when it was built, I expect there is. When I was a kid, it was a substandard cow pasture that flooded during the rainy season. It STILL floods; however, the City of Altamonte Springs built it to withstand that ... and Crane's Roost Park and the lovely City are still going strong. Seminole County is a terrific place to live!

“Nice Park”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

This park sits on a lake just off the interstate and in front of the Altamonte mall, and it's surrounding shopping & dining areas. It's a nice place to take a stroll. They have a great fireworks show on July 4th, and they have a floating stage, that they use for open air concerts from time to time. Not a destination in itself but if you're there not a bad place to kill a bit of time with a stroll or bit or drink at one of the lakeside eateries.

“Peaceful and Beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

Cranes Roost is one of those parks that is beautiful year round. it's has a beautiful walk way that actually takes you onto the lake--which is great if you have small childern who love to feed ducks and fish. it's also a great place to take photos for special occasions; such as weddings or senior pictures. there"s several plaes that you can sit and just enjoy the peace
and Cranes Roost always has activites going on--like the nightly Jazz festival during the summer and Christmas lights during the holidays.
and if you get tired or hungry, the park is right across the street from the Altamonte Mall or several shopping centers that not only have food but great places to shop
all in all, it's a place i go to frequently and always suggest to my friends and family.
