We loved Hotel Jerome...can't wait to see it renovated...perfect location. My husband and I would only stay here in Aspen. I hope to visit again soon. They could work on breakfast, we prefer a nice buffet when we are skiing. Most mornings we ate in town instead of at the hotel. Not sure if they changed this since the renovation.

The Hotel Jerome is undergoing a remarkable transformation.

My wife and I stayed there during the last week in July. It was the second summer in a row in which we did so. The Jerome always has been known for its unique ambience, which combines the fabled history of the Old West with modern comforts and an unmatched level of service.

I have noted, however, that a few reviewers thought the ambience was too much 19th century and not enough 21st. In their view, the place seemed "old." I don't agree, but soon even those few will have no reason to complain. The Jerome closed at the end of July for a renovation. And I am pleased to be able to provide an early insight into the changes.

During our recent stay, we heard about the coming renovation and we noticed signs on a few doors saying that the rooms were not to be occupied because they were newly renovated as a test of the design. Guessing we had nothing to lose, we asked one of the staff if we could have a sneak peak. We were surprised when he said "Yes." He showed us a small suite and a single room.

The big challenge facing the Jerome, of course, was to retain the historical ambience of this gem of the Old West while adding modern amenities that offer luxury and the feeling of freshness and light. How do you reconcile old and new?

The Jerome and its designers have succeeded magnificently. The rooms are just beautiful. There is no other way to describe them. The heavy and dark brocades are a thing of the past. The wallpapers, tiles, flooring and linens are in fresh, bright and lively designs. They are light, and yet they are made to work perfectly with the substantial wood furnishings that are typical of the West. All the modern electrical and mechanical conveniences are there, too, and they are subtly blended in. And the rooms are as spacious as ever. The feeling definitely is "Old West," but it is clean and new Old West.

Aspen is a place where you want to spend time outdoors. That won't change. But these new rooms at the Jerome will definitely compete for a little more of your time and attention. You won't mind lingering a little longer in the morning and coming back a little sooner in the evening.

The Jerome will re-open in mid-December of this year, and we are looking forward to returning next summer. In addition to enjoying one of the new rooms, we look forward to the impeccable service of the staff--Justin and Leslie in food service, Katie and Missy at the front desk, and so many others whose names we don't recall but who have made our stays at the Jerome an outstanding experience.

WE were married in Aspen in july. We stayed at the Jerome and had our reception under a tent on the lawn. Can not say enough about the staff and thier hard work and great attitude. WE are very well traveled and know good service. The Jerome is extremely well run and we can't wait to visit and see the new look when the 20 million redo is complete. Thanks to everyone at the Jerome you made our wedding week even more soecial than we thought possible.

We were at this hotel for a charity event and were thrilled with this wonderful establishment. It had a great historic feel and I cannot say enough about the helpful and friendly staff. While the rooms are comfortable and large, everything needs a little updating. However, we were told a complete renovation was beginning in two weeks which will definitely take this hotel to the next level! Jake, in the restaurant was a fabulous waiter. Aaron who handled our charity dinner was helpful and ready to accommodate our every need. The front desk staff and bellman were absolutely wonderful. Can't wait to return next year and see the renovations that have taken place. Highly recommend this 5 star experience!

We had a wonderful stay at the Jerome during the July 4th week. Apparently we just missed Alan Greenspan, and we saw Goldie Hawn nearby, so we felt right in the center of the universe. But seriously, the Jerome is a beautiful historic hotel in the perfect Aspen location for summertime. The guest services team made us feel welcome and cared for, and we felt the Auberge love the whole time. Our only complaint: having used the spas at other Auberge properties, we looked forward to a massage, etc., during our time in Aspen. The hotel recommended the Aspen Club, which turned out to be a big disappointment - not to mention a waste of time and money. Don't fall for it. Use your time to explore the beautiful natural surroundings, and skip this dated and dirty facility.

Dear Kimberlyhj,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your July stay at Hotel Jerome. It gave me great pleasure in sharing the review with our staff, particularly the Guest Services team.

I was disappointed to hear about your experience at the Aspen Club and Spa, however I am sure you are aware that Hotel Jerome is currently undergoing a renovation. One of the areas we are very excited about will be a complete spa within our hotel so our guests will feel the Auberge love, as you did, throughout the entire Hotel.

Thank you again for the wonderful review and I truly hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you back to Hotel Jerome in the future after our renovations.

With warm regards,

Tony DiLucia,

Ive had the great pleasure of visiting Aspen in every season. Most of them were spent at the Hotel Jerome. What I love about this hotel is that it is a classic, with old world elegance...combined with a rich history. When towns become as commercial as Aspen has, its nice to find respite in a place that was there long before celebrity arrived. The Jerome has energy that's still grounded in reality...combined with all the comforts of the new world...and of course location/location!

The hotel has the charm and the service attention of a boutique hotel with the consistent luxury quality of the Auberge luxury chain. It is centrally located in Aspen convenient to everything.
The room we were in was large and luxurious. The hotel surprised us with a basket of gourmet goodies including locally made chips, baked goods and a selection of sodas, energy drinks and bottled water. This aw our first stay in years, so this amenity was not on the basis of our being VIP guests.
The standard room on the second floor was spacious with a postcard view of the Rockies. The carpet was high quality and without stains, the room was spotless. There were luxury appointments such as large flat screen tv with premium channels, excellent workspace and desk and free high speed, reliable Internet. The bed had high thread count sheets, a clean comforter and high quality super comfortable bed. There were custom moldings
the bathroom had a marble flooring and a separate huge bathtub and past a separate door was a clear glass enclosed spacious shower and toilet area. the shower had excellent water pressure and they included high end soaps and moulton brown spa products.
The common areas of the hotel include a lovely lobby with chandeliers fresh seating near the front desk and concierge area
for dining there is a garden cafe, the classic J Bar which is a scene, and quite the spot on most evenings especially weekends. Breakfast and coffee drinks are available indoors.
since it is located right on central aspen, dining is no issue. All of aspen's amazing dining choices are walking distance.
The fitness center situation is that they have privileges at the Aspen Club which has an awesome fitness center spa and salon for manicures. the valets drive you there and back and the facility is set on lovely picturesque grounds. the only drawback is that it is not on site.
The location is convenient to several of Aspen's best hikes including Smuggler , hunter Creek and the Rio Grande path so few use the indoor facilities in summer. in winter most are skiing on one of the four mountains.
after this hotel is renovated, it will be even better.

Room Tip: Ask for a mountain view in back if you want quiet. The front rooms are more of a city and mountain...
