Loved the hotel. Great location, friendly staff, and excellent amenities. BUT, the noise from the bus depot diagonally across Durant is bad. Buses park up and down the street and stop and start their engines all night (past 2 AM on the Friday when we were there). Stay on any side but Durant and Mill if you're bothered by noise at night.

The Mountain Chalet is a perfect hotel for staying in Aspen when visiting the Maroon Bells and the rest of the White River National Forest. It has plentiful coffee and a good breakfast in the morning, a classic, 1950s old school look and the staff is very nice and helpful. The location puts you very close to Aspen's downtown, and across the street from the bus station that runs you out to the various ski areas and to the mountains. While not loaded on luxuries, the price is perfect.

Stayed here last week. Hotel is nice enough, but showing its age. Room was a bit musty and did not have much ventilation. Location is great. You can walk to most all Aspen has to offer. Price was good I suppose by Aspen standards, but I have stayed at much nicer elsewhere for the same price. Underground parking garage is nice, but I would not want to try to exit the steep ramp if there were snow on the ground. Staff very friendly and accomodating. Pool area gets very little sun even in the summer as it is below street level and surrounded on all four sides. Breakfast was just okay. Wifi everywhere and a couple PC's in the lobby that can be used.

Albeit perfectly located near the center of Aspen, this hotel is a little bit run down. It is one of the cheaper options in Aspen though. Breakfast is very basic.

This was both me and my husbands first time to Aspen and we did arrive here on a budget. Not only is Aspen a beautiful place to be but this hotel is an absolute gem. It isn't like any of the trendy places we have stayed in the past; it has charm, coziness, and a lot of appeal. The hotel itself is very accommodating to it's guests and is in the middle of town. There is always free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in the lobby and the full menus to the restaurants in town made it easy to find a place to eat without wandering the town aimlessey. We booked the economy double twin bed room, but we were pleasantly surprised at the comfort of the beds and decor. All in all we were very happy.

Lastly, this hotel is a little slice of Switzerland in the U.S. It has character oozing out of every surface. We would love to return in the winter as we have found a perfect place for our budget and needs.

Nice rooms, hot tub, exercise and game rooms, computers for guests, delicious breakfast, friendly staff, convenient to parks and downtown, and lowest prices in Aspen! Second time we have stayed here and was excellent again. We will definitely be back.
