If you go to Aspen you should consider the Mountain Chalet. It is a friendly, cozy and and extremely well situated Hotel in the center of Aspen. Only 100 m to the Silver Queen Gondola. The Family owned and run hotel makes you feel that you are one of their family. The only downside is the thin coffee but that is a nationwide problem in USA!! The complimentary breakfast is very nice and there is a new dish every morning from the kitchen plus a buffet. A heated garage and a ski storage was a surprise and après ski drinks and all day long coco, coffee, tea and water for the guests was a pleasant surprise. We will not consider any other option after our stay at the Mountain Chalet in Aspen. Asta and Haffi

We haven't visited yet, but we had booked the hotel for Aspen Fashion Week. We were well beyond the time that the deposit was fully due, and then I found out that Aspen Fashion Week had been cancelled, only three weeks before its start date. Steve at Mountain Chalet was very kind about it and refunded my money (minus the credit card fees). I will absolutely book this hotel again and stay there this summer.

The staff at the Mountain Chalet are very welcoming and helpful and it does present a family-run feel. The rooms are comfortable and warm in a very cold February. Breakfast is hearty and the hot choices filling and seconds encouraged. I have only tried the outdoor pool which is warm as toast after a days skiing. The location is perfect, 100 yards from the bus shuttle station to other parts of the Aspen-Snowmass resort and little further from good bars and restaurants let alone the shopping. The building may look a little tired but this should not put you off. Happy to recommend the hotel.

I almost didn't write a review because I don't want Mountain Chalet to be booked out when I return! Having stayed two days before at the SLS hotel, Beverley Hills, I can tell you that I would prefer Mountain Chalet any time. My daughter and I were so impressed with the friendly, family atmosphere, the facilities such as the gym, pool, spa and sauna, the fact that you could make yourself tea or coffee or other hot drink and enjoy a biscuit at any time, the excellent included breakfast, and the central location. You can join others for an inexpensive drink after skiing, and there is a once a week get together with great snacks and fondue. If they served dinner, we would have eaten there too. Great stay and excellent value for money.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back face the mountain and may be quieter

The hotel was a great find. It was very unique and charming due to its history. The room was quaint and clean and had nice tvs and fireplaces. The great thing about this hotel is the closeness to downtown and the lifts. They offer a nice exercise facility, a great heated pool, hot tub and sauna. It also offers parking in an underground garage. Perfect find :) I will definitely visit this place again.
