“Worth a visit!”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

The Sky Hotel is perfectly situated for all that Aspen had to offer. It is comfortable, clean and the staff can't do enough for you. The bar is great for après ski and has a busy, lively atmosphere. Breakfast was buffet style with a la carte options (if you want them). The bar and breakfast areas were a little cool in temperature (for me) but that could have been due to the unusually low temperatures that we experienced while there. Otherwise, we had a very enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: We had a room in the main part of the hotel, and would recommend asking for a higher floor to get th...

Thank you for your recent review on TripAdvisor and we are happy to hear that you enjoyed your visit and we look forward to seeing you return to stay with us again soon. It was very cold during your stay which is definitely a challenge to maintain an even temperature in the building and we appreciate your understanding.

Looks and pictures can be deceiving. We stayed here for four nights and paid for 5 star luxury hotel rates. What a disappointment!!!!! I highly recommend you stay somewhere else. It is a cheap motel with modern wall paper and wanna be fashionable drapes. Underneath it is a room that is old and falling apart. Not worth the high price they demand. The breakfast service sucked and the food was always running low. Better off staying at a clean and reliable condo nearby. Best bet for families however is the viceroy at snowmass...a five star luxury hotel with ski in and ski out only 20 minutes away at a lower price....believe it or not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your stay with us. Our building was originally constructed in the 1960's and we have put in significant efforts to update and refresh the building and decor. I can assure you that our rates are not very close to the 5 Star competition in Aspen during December as their rates are almost double ours. The Viceroy is a very nice hotel and we are happy that you enjoyed their facility and they create a very different from the experience from the Sky Hotel. Thanks for visiting Aspen on your recent vacation and let us know if there is anything we can do to help.

Traveling for business, with dog in tow, we stayed at the Sky Hotel. True to Kimpton Hotel form, the staff was great to us and our furry child. Our room was stylish and comfortable. The bathroom was a little dated and slightly cramped but still nice. I suspect they just have not yet completely remodeled the room we were in. Cocktail hour in the lobby was very nice. I enjoyed a glass of wine relaxing in the lobby. The front desk and valets were helpful with directions and recommendations, even picking up take out for us. We'll be back!

Aspen is a wonderland in itself. All of the resorts are unique in their own way, but the SKY was above the clouds! The rooms are not huge, don't have to be..Location is premium, the beds are heavenly, and the faux fur comforters allure you into a world of fantasy. Buy one. They are a pet friendly hotel, and will get your ski equipment rented for you, get clothing for you, and serve you very good food, whether in room, or in dining area. The lobby is fantastic, and the pool, and hot tub outside in winter, is an unbelievable place to meet and greet. This is pure swank, swagger, and swing. If you are looking for entertainment stay here. If quiet is what you seek there are three other resorts in Aspen to go to and are outstanding as well. But the Sky is the limit for me, and I am picky,,,

Room Tip: Ask for a suite mountain view. I believe it is more money, but if you plan on spending time in your...

Excellent hotel and on the mountain. Great pool, jacuzzi and party area just outside. Close to all amenities in town. More importantly, affordable and just across the street from the not so affordable...Little Nell.

I know, I know, why on earth would anyone go to Aspen during the off season? Well, my wife and I did and had an amazing time. We stayed the week before Thanksgiving. There was no skiing yet but we were able to do tons of hiking and had a super relaxing time. Some things to note about Sky in the off season: the staff are way more relaxed - instead of stressed out / maxed out days and days, the whole environment was really chill. This was just what we were looking for - a quiet, mellow stay for a few days after some serious work in Denver. Secondly, check the Sky's 39 Degrees hours. They are not always open during the off season but the staff at Sky was willing to go anywhere in Aspen to pick up and deliver food for you - which they did for us, no problem. The pool was open, of course, and is a fun dip at 98º after a long hike. They also have some passes to the local health club and spa which is a nice addition to their fitness room, so be sure to take advantage of that. We had an amazing room with a fireplace that we hung out by when not outside dining, hiking, or shopping.

All in all, my not be what you picture when going to Aspen but if you have the time, it is a really great way to experience Aspen as it may have been before the onslaught of visitors. Let me say, being in Aspen when there are 10K people is much different than 75K. If you want a peaceful, almost serene stay, then Sky Hotel is a great choice in the off season. If you want to party and experience Aspen in all its glory, Sky too, would be my choice!

Room Tip: If you can swing it, get the room with a fireplace - totally worth it in the cold weather! Many of t...

Thanks BradleyD_11 for the great review. Many of us really agree with you in really enjoying the 'off-season' here in Aspen. It is very relaxing and there are great deals to be had at the local shops and restaurants. We also love the season and the everything that comes with that as well. We can't wait to have you cme and stay with us again either in season our off.

I have been coming here for years and can't wait to get there, summer, winter or fall! It is always the best! Great beds, fast WIFI, awesome food and fun pool area, fun guests and the staff is great....always super helpful and they have always given us the best service and recommendations from horseback riding around Snowmass, to bike/hike trails in the area, and of course the infamous MONSTER party during the XGames...we can't wait to get back. Oh yes, walk out the front door and you are on one of the best ski mountains in the world.... Alan you are awesome and you have a great staff! Thanks for everything!

Room Tip: They are all awesome, stayed in several over the past years.....
