Go to the J-Bar if you want good and decently priced food for Aspen. Their drinks are also well priced and the atmosphere is laid back. I had the J-Bar Burger and it was excellent!

Came here upon our arrival in Aspen for a relaxed, casual meal and were not disappointed. The burgers are great and large. Be sure to try the cone of fries and the calamari. Atmosphere in restaurant is perfect also. My only complain was the wine. We had two bottles of pinot and had to have them chill the second one. They could at least store their wines so they are a little closer to serving temperature as opposed to warm.

My mom and I ate here our first night in Aspen. It has a very small eating area as this is more for drinking and socializing. The service was very slow as I believe the waiters are attending the drinking customers first. When we got the food, it was fresh and good. It was a nice experience and the hotel it is located in is exquisite and worth going into for just a look see.

If you are looking for socializing and drink, this could be it! If you want intimate or quiet, go somewhere else.

We wound up at the J-Bar accidentally, as it was pouring out and our first three restaurant visit attempts were all closed. We lucked out, though! The bar is full of history and old photos cover the walls. Make sure to look at the tin ceiling and match the ancient photos to the current bar.

The food was okay; nothing spectacular. The red pepper soup is a great choice as an appetizer, as it was quite tasty. Don't bother with the caesar salad. It was too cold to try the signature drink, but a few fellow patrons gave it a shot and loved it (the "Aspen Crud" I believe it's called).

Don't sit at the tables by the front windows unless it's very hot outside. They blast frigid air at your legs and there's nothing the poor wait staff can do about it -- they try to cover the vents with menus but it's not particularly effective.

Service was great, food was good, and it was a neat place to be.
