Description: Since 1997, Jimmy's has been Aspen's neighborhood restaurant and bar, the kind of comfortable restaurant where you can dine again and again. Ask any local, and you will hear that Jimmy's is an "Aspen Institution." The menu has something for everyone, from the fresh-squeezed margaritas and the "locally-priced" bar menu to the famous crab cakes, USDA prime steaks, and fresh fish. "The menu is designed to feature the finest in American cuisine without being pretentious, served in an energetic atmosphere," says proprietor (and local) Jimmy Yeager. The energy at Jimmy's is what really draws a crowd; the bar is nearly always jam-packed and the dining room lively with activity and a mix of interesting people. The welcoming staff provide the best in top-notch hospitality. Jimmy's is "home" for a large community of locals and tourists alike.

Had a wonderful three nights in Aspen (mid-November is a great time of the year to enjoy the town) and surprised ourselves by eating at the same place - Jimmy's bar - twice. The reason is that Jimmy's has a different special each night of the week and my wife had the Thursday night special - barbequed lamb (shanks, I think) - and raved about it to our charming wait staffer. She told us that if we liked Thursday's come back on Saturday for prime rib (with potatoes and veggies) for $14.00. That's a great price anywhere and beyone belief for Aspen. (And it was very tender, not fatty prime rib.) The accompanying mixed vegetables were thinly sliced and very lightly sauteed, not at all the overcooked mush you usually get for mixed vegetable sides. And a very extensive menu , both food and drinks, in the bar.

A lot of good things to say about it Jimmy's, but the comments are limited to the bar service; we did not eat in the dining room. The bar was crowded, pretty noisy, and a lot of fun. We sat perched on backless stools at a table the first night and at the bar the second. Bar was more fun because the bartenders are very personable and Jimmy himself was working there a lot of the time on Satruday. A very enjoyable host with a lot to say about the drinks he serves. We had mules both nights and I ended up with about the best mojito ever whipped up by Kayla.

A number of Aspen restaurants have separate bar service, sometimes with a slightly different menu, sometimes with exactly the same food. In either case it's about 75% or less of the cost of moving into the dining room and eating about the same stuff. At the bars it's crowded, noisy, no reservations and the best way to eat in Aspen and not have to hock your car. It certainly is not a quiet, intimate experience but it sure is fun if you're in the mood.

Very good food, reasonable price, great, personable service, and try the specials, especially the prime rib.

I like bars with good food and a good atmosphere. Jimmy's bar has just that. We did not eat in the dining room, but really enjoyed sitting and eating at the bar. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Aspen.

Lots of options, great burgers, fish and steaks. Its a consistently good "go to" spot. Its equally good for a business meal or event as it is for a family evening or date night. It is not quiet and intimate however. Its a bustling place.

We visited Jimmy's 9 years ago, on a previous trip to Aspen, and remebered its fabulous Meatloaf entree. So, when we just visited Aspen again last week, for my husband's birthday, decided to have his B-day dinner there. Our memory did not dissapoint, as we had a great meal, excellent drinks, and impecable, very fast service (by Paul, our server) despite the very busy evening there and the place being pack with customers. Their entrees, including the Meatloaf, were very generous, beautifully displayed, and of course, delicious. We had a great dining experience and my husband loved his B-day dinner's choice of place. We'll be back next time we visit Aspen !!!
