Description: Mezzaluna, meaning “half-moon” in Italian, is an independent, locally owned and operated restaurant serving modern Italian cuisine in Aspen. Our large Italian marble bar and our beautiful patio are key features of our restaurant, and our wood-burning pizza oven helps create an authentic atmosphere. We serve lunch, après ski and dinner, with daily food and wine specials. Aspen's favorite Italian for over twernty years and with Aspen's only wood-burning pizza oven. Fresh salads, tasty appetizers, pastas, fresh seafood daily and classic favorites like chicken marsala, veal piccata and pepper-seared beef tenderloin. Our horseshoe-shaped Italian marble bar is right in the center of the action. Our walls are adorned with over 100 pieces of original Italian art, and our patio is open for outdoor dining in the Fall, Spring and Summer.

“Pasta and Glitteratti”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

Mezzaluna is in the heart of Aspen. The decor is a bit kitchy and confusing with childlike paintings and rather serviceable tables closely places. The bar is expansive and open and would be my first chose if the stools had a back as skiing is hard work!
The menu features salads, sandwiches, pastas and a few entrees.
We opted to split a Mediterrrean salad and the special fettucine. The server, while not overly friendly as one would anticipate in such a divine location, did not wince when we requested split salad and pasta, however they did not plate it separately in the kitchen. Not a big deal but for the prices it might have been a nice touch. The fettucine was good but one needed a microscope to locate the peas and pancetta, however the sauce was excellently prepared;creamy and cheesy without the hint of a flour taste..well done. Would I go back? Gee ..so many choices in Aspen..I would probably try out a few more of the other restaurants before returning.

Thanks for your review. Your opinion on the restaurant set up and decor is appreciated. I will be sure to look into meal splitting on different plates. Hope you come back and try us, we are bringing in a new fresh menu.

We went there on a busy Friday night, but the place was not that busy. The service was bad and the food not that good.

we are sorry you found the service and food not to your liking. without some specifics it's impossible to address what you didn't like. we serve hundreds of people every day and we pride ourselves on the number of repeat customers, both local and tourists, and we try really hard to deliver a consistently good product, a good value and with good, friendly, attentive service. we would like to know what went wrong on your recent visit.

“Fantastic food”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

Great food. Fresh-baked bread is delicious. Service was great. Salmon on bed of avocado, mango and quinoa was the best meal that I had on my vacation.

“Fun, Fun, Fun”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

Mezzaluna is a great Apres Ski spot. But, I'm a local. So, I go there for lunch and dinner and happy hour. The food is consistently good. Great little bar menu that is different than what you get at the tables. Bartenders know what they are doing. And, sport tv's strategically placed for the fanatic. Does get loud and crowded, but that is part of the fun.

“Worth the wait!”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

There is always a wait here, but we are always glad we waited!
We were there for a late day girls lunch and the place was packed. We hung at (near) the bar for a cocktail and then were seated after around 25 minutes. Our waiter was delightful and knowledgeable. We shared some salads and some pastas. Everything was very delicious. We saw Maria Shriver and Rob Lowe with there families at the next table. No one bothered them, which is nice. We will eat there again, always a buzzing spot in Aspen.
