Mezzaluna is in the heart of Aspen. The decor is a bit kitchy and confusing with childlike paintings and rather serviceable tables closely places. The bar is expansive and open and would be my first chose if the stools had a back as skiing is hard work!
The menu features salads, sandwiches, pastas and a few entrees.
We opted to split a Mediterrrean salad and the special fettucine. The server, while not overly friendly as one would anticipate in such a divine location, did not wince when we requested split salad and pasta, however they did not plate it separately in the kitchen. Not a big deal but for the prices it might have been a nice touch. The fettucine was good but one needed a microscope to locate the peas and pancetta, however the sauce was excellently prepared;creamy and cheesy without the hint of a flour taste..well done. Would I go back? Gee ..so many choices in Aspen..I would probably try out a few more of the other restaurants before returning.
