This is an old mining train grade converted to a mix of gravel path and paved path. Views, woods, ranches. There are paths upvalley east of Aspen then all the way to Glenwood Spgs and beyond. We did an easy 20 miles down valley to Basalt, lunch in Basalt then caught a special bike bus back to Aspen. Holds about 18 bikes. Every two hours in the summer. RFTA - great bus service, wonderfully helpful driver.

Our bike ride on this trail was a highlight of our trip. Beware, it's a slight downward incline as you ride out of town, which you barely notice, but can leave recreational cyclists huffing and puffing on the way back to town (especially at altitude). Nothing you can't handle, and the views and scenery make it very much worth the effort!

Fun ride to Woody Creek. My teenager was nervous about how close the edge of the trail came. Certainly the prehospital first aid and Junior counselor areas need addressing and confidence.

The way back was a little harder because of the slight uphill grade but not too taxing.
