It might be easy to miss this downstairs restaurant, but favorable Trip Advisor reviews tipped us off to its location. Being my frist trip to Aspen, I just assumed everything would be expensive. However, I was pleasantly surprised at Finbar as prices were moderate and portion sizes generous.
The decor is more upscale than the Pub in its name implies, but still manages to be quaint. The bar is separated from the dining area by a beautiful stone fireplace with several comfy couches. It was March Madness, and patrons were watching the games on the several flat screen TVs. However, the division between the bar/restaurant was large enough so that our dining experience was not interrupted by the games.
The steamed mussels were perfectly cooked and came in a wonderful broth -- ample as an appetizer portion for four to share. Our table of five each ordered something different and no one was disappointed. Didn't matter -- steak, bangers & mash, fish & chips, Reuben sandwich, the nut encrusted chicken -- all were prepared beautifully and tasted as good as the lovely presentation.
A return trip to Finbar is a must.
