It might be easy to miss this downstairs restaurant, but favorable Trip Advisor reviews tipped us off to its location. Being my frist trip to Aspen, I just assumed everything would be expensive. However, I was pleasantly surprised at Finbar as prices were moderate and portion sizes generous.

The decor is more upscale than the Pub in its name implies, but still manages to be quaint. The bar is separated from the dining area by a beautiful stone fireplace with several comfy couches. It was March Madness, and patrons were watching the games on the several flat screen TVs. However, the division between the bar/restaurant was large enough so that our dining experience was not interrupted by the games.

The steamed mussels were perfectly cooked and came in a wonderful broth -- ample as an appetizer portion for four to share. Our table of five each ordered something different and no one was disappointed. Didn't matter -- steak, bangers & mash, fish & chips, Reuben sandwich, the nut encrusted chicken -- all were prepared beautifully and tasted as good as the lovely presentation.

A return trip to Finbar is a must.

Ha! We visited this bar with some friends that have a love of Irish Pubs. Really neat interior, with nice seating around the bar. However when we walked in and wanted to have a seat at the bar, but were a little off-put by a couple that had their toddler sitting there with them. This is a practice that none of us in the group are a fan of. I mean, come on! Bring your kid to a restaurant, sure. Sit down at a table! But not at the bar! In any event, we asked a waiter if we could take one of the empty bar tables, and he was
quick to accommodate. We were greeted by our waitress, who when we all ordered beers, selectively I.D.'d. us. Rudely. With a few personal comments included. Three of us are in our mid-late 20's and one friend in the group, who is a few years older was not so nicely told that she didn't need to see his. Really, lady? Do you know how rude that sounds? Just card everyone in the group, minus the personal remarks. So that put us off to a great start. We had one round, and a small appetizer then left. I find it a real shame that places like this that may have something really good to offer are offending their customers by allowing children to sit bellyed-up at the bar, where adults should be sitting, and allowing waitresses to make snarky remarks about people's age. Not my cup of tea.

When Finnbarr first opened we went in and had some fantastic calamari. The next time we went in to enjoy what we thought was the best calamari in town we were highly disappointed. The calamari was undercooked and extremely over battered. I am rating this restaurant as poor because there seams to be no quality control in place.

Very pleasant place, beatifully decorated, with great staff. The food was delicious, cooked just the way we asked - we ordered lobster and the shepherds pie.
A new spot to be on my favorites in Aspen.

One dinner here wasn't enough so we returned for a second night. Very reasonably priced for Aspen. Especially after walking around to compare other menus. Fish and chips were great. Beer was great of course. Very relaxing atmosphere and not too noisy. Waitstaff was educated about the menu items.
