Nice hike through the Aspens from Maroon Lake. If you are in reasonable shape you should make it in about an hour, one way. About 500 ft of elevation gain over about 1.5 miles or so.

The trail is not too long, but long enough with plenty of places to stop and take pictures of the amazing view. It is a rocky trail and there is a very large section through broken rock but definitely something everyone can do even if you are not adjusted to the altitude if they are willing to take breaks and stick with it.

Its rocky but not too difficult, I'm not all that athletic, although not in bad shape and I enjoyed the hike. I was glad we got there early before the tour buses as it gets busy. There were many beautiful photo opportunities along this hike.

we went on to do crater lake after Maroon Bells. The trail is moderate,at times, easy. This may be why there were so many families on the trail. beautiful scenery and wildflowers.

Visiting Maroon Bells? One you've come to Maroon Lake, you can take an additional hike up to Crater Lake. It's about 1.5 miles, not strenuous, but more demanding than the Maroon Lake walk. When you get there, put your feet in the icy-cold water and you'll be quickly revived!! The scenery both along the way and at the lake is nothing short of stunning!
