“A bit tough, but worth it....”
Reviewed July 5, 2012

This hike does have some challenging spots, especially for flatlanders. Once at the lake, if you have the energy, take the West Maroon trail up for about 30 minutes to get to the base of the Bells and look back down at Crater Lake and the surrounding beautiful alpine valleys in all directions.

“A decent hike”
Reviewed June 8, 2012

Amazing scenery and not a difficult hike if you are better than couch fit. Even most out of shape folks should find this hit manageable, but for the altitude for us sea-level folks.

“An iconic view”
Reviewed June 4, 2012

This is a beautiful untouched spot of nature that you must see to believe. However here's a tip - where hiking boots. Athletic shoes will work but you really need the ankle support with the rocky terrian (and I mean ROCKY). I say many foolish women/girls in sandals and flip flops. I dont know how they didnt sprain their ankles.

“A good hike into the Wilderness”
Reviewed May 23, 2012

We like hiking up to the lake to get close to the Bells. An easy to moderate hike depending on your tolerance for the altitude. It was spring so the aspens were just blooming. Look for the whistlepigs and the small waterfalls on the Bells.
