“Nice place to see a show”

Wheeler Opera House

A small Theater for intimate shows. Great acoustics and atnosphere. The staff were helpful and friendly. Reasonably priced.

We went to the Aspen Film Festival last year. Most of the showings were located at the Wheeler Opera House. The Festival was a lot of fun. The movies were packed with locals and visitors. Definitely get your tickets in advance if there is a possible award winner. The King's Speech sold out quickly. For several of the movies, the director or an actor introduced the movie or spoke after and answered questions.

This was the perfect time of the year to visit Aspen. End of summer and before ski season. The aspen leaves were turning and the town was not packed as it can be during high season. The people were friendly and the restaurants were great. I'd definitely recommend making a special trip for the Film Festival!

You can take a trip back a few hundred years when you enter the opera house. Very unique place to catch a live musical performance or a fringe film.

I don't if they officially offer a tour or not but we went into the visitor's center that's co-located with it and asked if we could look around. The woman at the VC gave us a personal tour once it was verified that the opera house was not currently in use. The Wheeler probably looks better now than it ever did. A first rate restoration job. Thanks much for your time.
