“Great spot for a reasonable Aspen stay”
Reviewed March 26, 2012

Very personally run budget accommodation in Aspen. I'd return in a heart-beat. The room was spare, but clean. Yes, more than a bit out-dated - but no matter. Very practical. They were not full due to the unusually warm weather and so they up-graded me without any request on my part. Good small pool and steam room which was clean and operated as promised....not a spa place. A perfect budget traveler find.

Room Tip: Ask for a view room as long as you are in Aspen...why not have the view. Room tended to over-heat...

I agree with the review by Photog4funn: expensive for a hostel if you're used to traveling abroad, but a great value for Aspen.

We had a private, en suite room for two adults and a child. The beds are short and the room is small but all is comfortable. The lobby has lots of comfortable places to sit, relax, read a book, play a game or stare out the window and daydream. In the morning, you'll find coffee and tea, in the afternoon you'll find hot cider and cookies. Breakfast is cereal, waffles, bagels, yogurt, oatmeal and fresh fruit. The front desk staff is very friendly, we got the impression they'd help in any way possible.

The pool is the hook, though. It's a regular hotel-size pool, outdoors, that's hot tub temperature! With jets! Oh what a great way to end a day of skiing. You'll begin to think of it as a required part of your day - like brushing your teeth or breathing.

Room Tip: We had room 522, second floor facing the pool. Very quiet.

A group of three friends on a motorcycle tour, we found St Moritz on the Internet and called the same day we needed a place. The young lady I spoke with was extremely nice and helpful, and reserved a private dorm room with four bunks and shared bathroom. The hotel is old but clean, the room was small but adequate (all we needed, just passing through), and the bathroom was large with hot, powerful showers. The pool area was clean and pleasant, and the warmth of the pool water was a surprise and felt really good. But the big points are price and location. Others are amazed to hear that three guys could stay in Aspen during peak summer season for so little, and the place is just a few quiet neighborhood blocks' walk to restaurants and most importantly, the Aspen Brewery! It was exactly what we were looking for!

Room Tip: Some rooms are on the pool courtyard---it was quiet during our stay, but I could see there being som...

The St. Moritz Lodge also has some hostel beds. It's a bit expensive as far as hostels (shared room with other hostellers) are concerned, but you won't find such inexpensive accomodations in this resort town so it's a bargain. It is located in a quiet area about 5 blocks from the main village. It's clean, comfortable, friendly with a nice kitchen and free wireless internet. What a blessing to have economical accomodations available in such a gorgeous area of Colorado.

Room Tip: I don't know about the lodge rooms, but the hostel room was very nice.

I decided at the last second to do the Pearl Pass bicycle tour and needed to know a place I could stay in Aspen if I could make it. I called the day before and they said they had rooms and worst case scenario, me and my friend could stay in a hostel room. We weren't sure if we were going to make the ride so we didn't make the reservation.

We ended up strolling into town a little after 8 and the manager hooked us up with a condo for the night. Big screen TV's and two bedrooms. We didn't watch much since we were so tired, but the beds were just what our tired bodies needed.

Stayed in the two bedroom condo. Upstairs, two rooms, one bathroom (sink, toilet, shower all separate), living room and kitchen. Two small terraces. Front desk guy was super helpful. A bear had been in the vestibule of our stairs the week before so we were warned not to leave the door ajar. No a/c, ceiling fans, nice flat screen tvs in each room. Very dated decor. 70s like--wood paneling, carpet, old bedding. Pool area. We were able to walk to the downtown shopping and dining area. Just a few blocks away.

Its cheap but you risk sharing a hostel like room, yet everyone is friendly and it has a decent atmosphere. The staff is great and the internet is free. I stay here often when I am on business trips.

Plus it is right near the center of Aspen - so you can walk in to town for dinner and drinks.
