fun and challenging, just pack a lunch or bring tons of cash because the restaurants aren't shy to charge $10 for a hot dog or $13-14 for a burger

Probably the least crowded mountain in Aspen despite all of the home development nearby. Very good skiing with some slower lifts. No gondola. When the snow is good and the crowds are at Snowmass or Ajax it is a true pleasure. I am not an expert so I don't ski the Bowl, but undoubtedly that is a major attraction for the very confident and skilled skiier. I don't recall seeing a terrain park there if you are looking for that. If you are beginner would stick to Buttermilk or Snowmass. Merry Go Round restaurant is well presented and clean. Cloud 9 is a gourmet spot with prices to match. Parking is $10 day and very convenient (free if you have 4 persons in car), but if you can take the free bus that is the best way to go.

This is my favourite of the four mountains in Aspen/Snowmass. The slopes are quieter, better maintained and generally more challenging. When the sun sines, Highlands is just beautiful - nothing better than soaking up the sun and scenery with an outdoor lunch at the mid-mountain "Merry Go Round" restaurant.

Old school resort with great expert terrain, good food, the best views in the area, and fewer crowds that its neighbors. Experts should hike into Highlands Bowl for a real challenge.

Loved highlands. Great snow. Fantastic runs. Hiked the bowl. A must do. Followed by champagne and a fantastic meal at cloud 9. Wonderful!
