What a fun and fabulous restaurant. Low key in Aspen with unique latin-themed foods - it's like old Aspen meets new Aspen. Love this place - particularly the fresh guacamole and the aztec soups ... and the seafood dishes and the chicken and ... all around a great dinner!

“Good, imaginative food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2010

This is a fun restaurant with a creative menu. Atmosphere is casual and very kid friendly. Zocalito has elevated Latin Food to level where even the most jaded restuarant- goer would appreciate something new. Service was a little clunky at first, but gained momentum as dinner wore on. Cocktails were fantastic and the entres were solid. Chicken with chorrizo was very good, as was the pork dish. This restaurant has Aspen-like prices, so don't be surprised. At least you get something for it. Your meal will be a good one.

“Amazing food, amazing atomosphere...”

I love this place! I go for happy hours, special occasions, not so special occasions and Zocalito never disappoints!
The food is amazing! My personal favorite are the potato and chorizo tacos; so could I could eat them every day! The owner/ chef does a wonderful job of creating original ideas pared with traditional Oaxacan dishes.
Don't miss the book and photos of the trip to Oaxaca... It's wonderful!

“Not that good”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2010

Aspen is in sorry shape if this is the best it has to offer. Cuvee in Basalt and Phat Thai and 689 in Carbondale, to name a few, have much better food. I have had good guacamole and theirs had too much lime juice. The main courses were okay but nothing special.

“We Were Dying for More!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 29, 2010

My dad and I stayed in Aspen for a week and luckily found Zocalito at the very beginning. We were so pleased with the entire experience that we returned three more times before the trip was over! The mojitos are absolutely wonderful, with fresh mint and a choice of raspberry or original. The tapas were delicious as well, my favorite being the pulled pork in apple marinade. All the food is rich with taste for I could count on getting different tapas and entrées upon each return. Our experience at Zocalito was unforgettable and I highly recommend you and your travel companions give it a try when you're in town!
