Great small park with water features, flowers and stones with engraved lyrics to his songs. Very peaceful but was hard to find and I was expecting a statue of the man himself. But all in all still a beautiful place.

It's small and subtle, peaceful and beautiful. It's a must-see for any John Denver fan. We travelled to Aspen solely for this and the Windstar foundation, b/c we're hardcore fans, and we were not disappointed. The area is not marked and was hard to find, so here are my tips: find the Chamber of Commerce on Google maps. (Parking is a pain - if you can find in on the street, great, if not, the parking garage by Chamer is your easiest option.) With your back to the Chamber's door, you're facing an open sports field with a skateboard arena to its right. Walk to the back right corner of the field, go across the little bridge. There's now a river to your right and a theatre to your left. Follow a tiny path up between the little rock-hill ahead of you, and voila! There's John's songs in the granite, in all their splendor. It's very comforting to be surrounded by other people who love his music as much as you do, and you won't be the only one humming each tune etched in stone.

If you, too, go to Aspen for John's sake, just keep in mind ... it's one of the wealthiest/expensive cities in the nation. You'll want a hotel/condo with a kitchenette so you aren't at the mercy of overpriced restaurants for every meal. Also, if you're a sea-level dweller like us, the altitude of Aspen will kick you in the lungs! Take it slow and steady, don't hyperventilate, bring an inhaler if you have/need one!

Just go. For a fan, it's the closest you'll ever feel to him now, this side of heaven.

This park is very low key and subtle just like John Denver. There are not any magnificent monuments or fountains to proclaim the late singer, songwriters many songs from his heart. But, there is a simplicity that speaks very loudly to anyone that witnessed John Denver perform that genuinely represents the man. I saw John Denver perform a few times in the seventies and remember how genuine he was in his shows. It is a quiet refuge in the middle of the bustling community of Aspen that provides a place of solitude and reflection. A must for baby boomers and a suggested stop for those of the younger generation. Take time to read the words of John's songs that are etched in the large rocks. Take time to reflect on the meaning to him and to yourself. Enjoy the creek and the simplicity of nature in the John Denver Sanctuary. Please visit this place.......i loved it.

John Denver's music is so spiritual, we went out of our way to visit the John Denver Sanctuary. Would have liked to see it have a much higher profile with Aspen visitor's center. If you are a John Denver fan, it is a must see.

With snow covered ground, it was a little tricky navigating the path, but we made it to the rock formations where JD's songs are engraved on them. I was happy to have visited here. I would go back again. Very peaceful and serene.
