“Outstanding Vacation activity”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

We attended the Concerts in Fir, Co; departing from LaVeta. Great entertainment; great views and overall fantastic day of scenic beauty and great music. Can't say enough about this venue. Hoping they will continue the Concert tours in Summer, 2013

“Well worth the money and time.”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

If you have an opportunity to take a train ride on the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad do not hesitate to do it. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt with their services. They came around and talked to all of the guests in the car we were riding in. The food was excellent and the price more than reasonable. We are thinking about taking another journey on one of their other lines.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such kind words about our railroad! We hope to see you aboard one of our other lines across the US and hope that you find them just as wonderful as the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad!
Happy Travels!

“Scenic train ride”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

The all day train ride round trip from Alamosa to La Veta, provides a nice change from auto touring. It is a leisurely trip, with great scenery encountered as the train crosses the Sangre de Cristo mountains, a scenic route through largely roadless remote terrain.

“Awesome Train Ride”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

Take advantage of seeing the back country from this train. The scenery was totally awesome. Rode from Alamosa to LaVeta & back to Alamosa. You'll see views that can not be seen from any roadtrip.

“Steam over the La Veta Pass”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

We recently rode all the scenic trains in Colorado and this one ranks just below the Cumbres and Toltec and the Durango and Silverton trains. We rode in an open air car. The terrain from Alamosa to Fort Garland is flat and uninteresting but the climb over La Veta Pass made up for it. This section was incredible scenic and could be experienced only by train. We did not stop at Fir to attend the concert there but most did and they seemed to have a very enjoyable time. Instead we went all the way to the quaint town of La Veta. This ride looke far superior to the diesel train ride from Alamosa to Antonito the terain of which is even more uninteresting than from Alamosa to Fort Garland.
