If you ever have an opportunity to check into this hotel oasis, you should check it out. We were here for two nights and it was wonderful to check into a place that felt warm and inviting...the October weather helped too. They always had lemonade and cookies available to munch on as well as the sound of fountains in the tiled lobby. The rooms were spacious, bedding very nice, and everything you could think of....iPod player, flat screen tv, fans, leather lounging chair, fireplace, wine opener, plugs everywhere so you can charge up your gear, towel warmers, two shower heads in our shower, nicely done bathroom, hot tub in the room (I think it works we didn't get around to relaxing in it) AND during your stay there was a basket of free goodies to eat and drink. I've never been a place that said, "eat me I'm free." Staff was very professional, helpful and accommodating. Icing on the cake for us....underground parking for our car and luggage carts to move your own stuff to the room. Who needs to tip for this and that, nickle and dime me for bottled water and snacks or charge for parking...this hotel has their priorities right...their guests. We were on the second floor and it was a quiet sleep, don't know if the first floor is just as quiet but we were very happy with our stay.

Slight minus, if the hotel is reading this, I would start thinking selective renovation pretty soon as the carpets and high traffic areas in the room and common areas are starting to show wear, but that's minor compared to the overall experience. We're from out of state, but we hope we can make it back again soon to stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Avila La Fonda and would recommend it to our friends and family. They had a very nice happy hour with refreshments and the rooms were very nice. They are also very close to the beach and shops and resturants. Avila beach is a great place to relax and Avila La Fonda is a nice place to stay.

We loved being at this place. A beautiful little jewel. It has the look of some larger, grander places,,but is small enough to feel cozy and get personalized service. The kitchen lobby always had something for guests. Selection of teas and a bowl of assorted fruit at all times. Guest reception from 5-630 in the evenings. (wine, cheese, crakers, salsa, veggies and warm cookies) We had kitchen in our suite-- complete with full sized stainless steel appliances. A small local grocery store on the beach had everything we needed. Our bed was a murphy bed. I was a bit concerned about this. But they came in to pull down and prepare the bed for us every evening and it turned out to be super comfortable!
There is an "owner's suite" which guests can use if it is not occupied. My husband and I were able to take advantage of it one evening. Has a sauna-- was a nice way to unwind. Inn is just a few blocks from avilla beach (must eat at the The Old Custom House on the Pier!). A golf course and a walking trail are also nearby and withtin walking distance.
Everyone we came in contact with at the Inn (and avilla Beach for that matter) were warm, friendly and accomodating. We will be back, Enjoy!

This hotel is way to expensive for what you get. The rooms are nice but the hotel lacks service of any kind, any perks, no food (other than snacks) on site, and NO view. The hotel itself is VERY small. No work out room, no pool, and most importantly no views. If you want to stay in your room and keep your drapes shut all day this is the place for you. The hotel is located in a rather unkept residential area of Avila Beach. Our view from our room looked right into the window of a house across the street. The location was good (close to the beach), but that is all that was good about the hotel. The wine reception was VERY weak with the cheapest wines and snacks. We have stayed at way nicer hotels for a lot less $. Shop around for a better hotel in the area for less $. $250 is outrageous for one night.

First of all, I have to say that the review from Sept 17th from the user in the Bay Area is not at all accurate. I think they were staying somewhere else and got it confused. This was a fantastic hotel and everyone was very nice and welcoming. The first thing I noticed was how good the hotel smelled; there were fresh baked cookies and candles.

Avila Beach is a nice quiet get away and the hotel reflects the laid back beachtown charm. The rooms are immaculate and the owners have spent a lot of time paying attention to detail. There is a hot tub in the room complete with tea lights and a stained glass light above for ambiance. The TV is a huge 42" flat screen. I loved the bathroom: 6 headed shower, heated towel bar, and a coffee maker that grinds the beans for you there. I loved the bed and had a wonderful night sleep. The wine and cheese hour is cute and there are local wines featured. They also give you a card for free wine tasting across the street at Alapay Cellars- and the wine there was fantastic.

My only suggestion would be that there were more toiltries provided in the room. They only give you a bottle of shampoo and a bottle of lotion. However, this is minor. We really had no complaints other than we wish we could have stayed longer.

When we were leaving, the owner came and asked us how our stay was and welcomed us back again in the future. I thought that it was a nice touch and we look forward to another quick trip.

We were just passing thru from Arizona on our way to Carmel and Monterey and it turned out to be an awsome stop. At the end of our trip we had wished we stayed the whole time there. If you are looking for a busy, crowded, lot's of restaurants and bars, lot's of action, go to a SoCal beach. If you want to hang in a super chill beach community that has a couple of restaurants, 1 bar, a general store, no crowds, this is it. I could retire there. The only thing that would be better is if this hotel were overlooking the ocean. Other than that, it is a great hotel and very charming. We will be back without a doubt.
I highly recommend it.
