“Lovely surprise”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

After a night camping on our honeymoon this hotel was such a nice surprise. We had tea and cookies on arrival and our room was lovely. We had a hot tub on the balcony, lovely bathroom and a great big bed! We even borrowed a film which was a great touch! Also, Avila beach was such a great find- we saw dolphins and it wasn't too busy!

Booked this hotel because of all the great reviews. Right from the start the staff was very friendly and helpful. Check-in was fast and easy. Our room was on the first floor right in front of the lobby, my husband and I were a little afraid the noise from the lobby would keep us awake but it turned out great. The room was a bit small, everything was clean, the fireplace in the room was a very nice touch. All in all it was a great experience. We will be staying here again no doubt about it!

This was a very pleasant surprise and made for a very enjoyable mid-week visit. It is close to town, but away from the ocean. It is nestled in the trees, has spacious rooms, upscale furnishings and comfortable bed.

We stayed over the Independence day holiday at this hotel. We were really impressed with the location. A nicely maintained bike path next to the hotel leads to the Bob Jones scenic bike path and it was ideal. We pedaled to the beach every morning with our infant son in his bike trailer. It was a beautiful way to leave the car behind for the weekend. We stayed in the Creekside Suite - it was large and nicely appointed. For the amount of money we paid it seemed strange that there were no bellman to assist us with the luggage. A complaint about ants in the wet-bar was received and dealt with swiftly. The bed was lumpy but the linens were nice. The continental breakfast in the morning seemed like the bare minimum they could offer. A nice experience but not outstanding.

Room Tip: The market down the parking lot offered an excellent breakfast!

We booked this through hotels.com the address on there web site is San Luis Obispo but that is not where the hotel is it is in Avila about 10 miles out of town. So if you are looking at staying in San Luis Obispo then I would not stay here. However Tripadvisor says it is in the right place.

Very nice clean hotel. Staff were very pleasant. If you like tennis or golf this would be a great place. Not much to do in the area and only really one restaurant in Avila Beach which was very good The Old Custom House. Portions are huge.

We love this hotel! The property is a great location and atmosphere for a nice romantic retreat! My husband and I had a very enjoyable stay! We will definitely be returning! The grounds around the inn are really very nice. We especially enjoyed the great walking/running/ biking trail from the hotel to Avila Beach!

The staff were very pleasant and helpful! Even when we had to report a small ant problem in our room. We had a very nice room with a hot tub on the balcony that backed up to the wooded area at the back of the hotel which we loved for the privacy! But with that it was understood that nature could intrude. When we notified the front desk, they offered us a new room so they could address the issue. The room we got moved to was just a few doors down and also very nice and offered the same privacy.

We appreciate all that in inn offers and for providing us with such a positive experience!

Room Tip: Opt for a room with a hot tub on the second floor located at back of the inn.

Add to our "Bucket List". Some of us would love to have a separate Guest Cottage for visitors. These rooms are ideal. Wallfireplace Whirlpool on seculded balcony. Oversize Shower ComfyBed. Charming way to say "no room service" wooden trays by your door to get your Continental Breakfast from the Breakfast bar. Only drawback no charming evening bar nice lobby but lifeless. Avila eye candy but wine bars closing at 6:00 nice outside sitting daytime hours. Personally I like a little more Life in a town. But close to everything. Ventana Great Food & View. Arroyo Grande Pismo Beach ...
