We saw at least whale breaches today! Humpback whales were amazing. Captain Mark is a great host, nice snacks, comfortable sailboat! He is extremely knowledgeable about the area; we are locals and we learned a great deal. Amazing experience THANK YOU!!!!

Mark, the captain, is a winner. Went for a morning sail. He started by offering wine, beer, soda, and great snacks. He then proceeded to tell us the history around Avila Beach. Then, out we headed, about 5 miles. We saw at least a dozen whales as Mark worked hard and carefully to position us for wonderful views. The sea is generally more calm for the morning sale and rougher in the afternoon. Mark said that generally whale watching is better in the afternoon.

If you haven't been aboard Capt. Mark's Central Coast Charters, you must at your earliest convenience. What a way to spend an afternoon. It was the best whale watch trip I have ever experienced in my entire life. And I'm 67 years old. A beautifully appointed 44' sali boat, wind, sea spray, 6' to 8' swells, white caps everywhere and more whales than I've ever seen, it was more than an enjoyable afternoon. Capt' Mark lets you steer the boat while he serves up Central Coast wines, Central Coast beers and healthy snacks. Honestly, it is an experience you don't want to miss if you are on the Central Coast.

We are summer renters on the Central Coast and have many out of town visitors. So my husband and I have been out with Captain Mark and Spirit four times this summer with various guests. Each time has been different and all have been memorable experiences. We've seen many whales, sea lions frolicking in the surf, sooty shearwaters by the thousands as they migrate up the coast all the way from New Zealand, pelicans, gulls, seals and many more denizens of this beautiful coastal area. Mark is very knowledgable and we've learned much from him about the history of the area, what is unfolding before us in the water and the interaction of the critters in the ocean and how they help each other. Our guests always consider the sail with Captain Mark a highlight of their visit and we never tire of learning from his vast knowledge of the sea and Central Coast history.

I live in Grover Beach and really appreciate the Central Coast--every day. But never experienced it quite like this! Perfect day, perfect captain, perfect way to celebrate a birthday (or any occasion) with friends, with the co-inhabitants of our watery planet. We were aboard The Spirit, but The Spirit surrounded us with peace and timelessness, rocking us, serenading us with the songs of the whales, otters, seals, penguins, gulls. Can't recommend Central Coast Charters enough..... with a group or even "solo". It is a supremely healing, nurturing way to be present to the sea, the sun, the air and the life we so often take for granted.Thank you Captain Mark for reminding us about living life to the fullest!
