Owner description: Point San Luis Lighthouse is a fully restored national landmark with tours open to the public Wednesdays (12 & 1pm) & Saturdays 12, 1, & 2). The site offers private group tours, educational trips for schools, special events, and weddings. Tickets for the tours can be purchased online at the Point San Luis Lighthouse website. Point San Luis is a non-profit charity and all ticket sales go to support ongoing restoration, education, and conservation programs. The Pecho Coast Trail is a trail hike that leads to the Lighthouse on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. To learn more about signing up for the hike please visit PGE's website. In order to take the hike you must be with a Pecho Coast Trail Guide. There is no public access on the road or the trails leading to the lighthouse due to the nearby power plant.

“Not to be missed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2013

The Point San Luis Lighthouse is a true jewel of the Central Coast and is not to be missed. There are actually three ways people can see this historic site that has been lovingly restored by volunteers over the years. You can kayak out across beautiful Avila Bay and wander the grounds. Or you can do what we did, which is ride the trolley. It's $20 per ticket per adult, but includes a docent-led tour. Or there is a docent-led hike on certain days of the week. PG&E owns the surrounding property, so it's not like you can just drive up and walk around the grounds. You do need to plan ahead, but whether by kayak, trolley, or hike, this is a must for anyone into lighthouses or the pure love of nature. The best web site I found was www.sanluislighthouse.org. By all means, go visit!

“Great”

We did this hike to the lighthouse today with Ken and Paul and they were very informative docents!! the weather was perfect, it was a wonderful hike along the water up the mountain. Had a little uphill, but they stop alot, so wasn't a problem at all! highly recommend it on a nice, clear day. but book ahead for the Wednesday hikes

“Kayak to the beach and walk up to the light house”

Bring a towel or try not to capsize, they won't let you in if you're wet! Very historic and absolutely beautiful. The fun part is that most people don't even know it is there!

“Great Day Excursion”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2012

We enjoyed the gorgeous ocean views, secluded setting, and authentic restoration of the Lighthouse compound buildings and residence. And, as an extra bonus, visitors are welcome to take a picnic, bottle of wine, or BOTH and enjoy the beautiful scenery after the tour. Check it out !!

“Beautiful scenery and a step back in time”

Now that the trolley rides are available, it is accessible to everyone. The lighthouse has been restored by volunteers, and what they have done is amazing. Definitely worth the trip.
