We just sent another beautiful weekend at Mt. Ada … Once again, we were extremely satisfied. We come for the annual Jazz Festival and are actually disappointed that we don’t spend more time in the Inn itself (although we are now coming a day earlier just to do that!). Over the years we have stayed at many B&B’s, this is still our favorite. The views from the Inn are unbelievable, the staff is ever so friendly and our hosts are always gracious. We actually love the food (breakfast, lunch and happy hour)! My wife likes her ice cream (sometimes late at night) and I even indulge (just for her - ahem) … After the shows, we always end up sitting on the veranda, overlooking Avalon and toasting to anyone and everyone. This Inn is a dream come true!

Every summer, my husband and I travel to Catalina to see our kids for Parent's Day at Catalina Sea Camp (CIMI). We have tried a few of the disappointing hotels in town, enjoyed the beautiful views from Hamilton Cove, but never stayed at the Inn at Mt. Ada. Wow, have we been missing out! A very comfortable, easy place to stay. Golf cart, snacks, beverages, wine, champagne, beer, ice cream sundaes, wonderful breakfast, lunch, evening happy hour, we really enjoyed the hospitality. Our room, though small, had an amazing view of the harbor, twinkling night lights of L.A.., and the ocean. The entire staff went out of their way to please.

My only complaint, and it is not with the hotel, is that there really is not any good dining options on the island. We had dinner both nights at the Buffalo. Nothing fancy, but we really enjoyed ourselves.

Next summer, we will stay again at the Inn.

I have to agree with the majority of guests of the Inn - I absolutely loved everything about it. Compliments to the staff who were outstanding in every way. The Inn is absolutely charming and I will definitely return.

I met a wonderful couple from Long Beach (George and Sheila) and enjoyed touring the island as well.

I have no complaints - only compliments and also a huge thank you to the staff for a wonderful experience.

We have enjoyed Mt. Ada as a couple, as a family, with a group of friends, and for special occasions through out 25 years. Going back so much says it all: a comfortable place to decompress from work as well as a great place to celebrate (weddings, anniversaries, birthdays). The accomodations and the staff make us feel at home. Each day there is a unique breakfast menu. The staff has always been gracious and more than willing to prepare something different for our friends with special dietary needs. Golf carts are supplied to zip around and explore the island. The little special touches (like ice cream sundae, fresh baked coolies, and friendly smiles) make Mt. Ada comfy and cozy. So comfy that it is common to see the guests (in the big over stuffed chairs) falling asleep while reading their favorite book.

The staff has also helped us find or engage florists, bakers, restaurants, musicians, photographers, ministers, transportation, massages, and activities. They also tell some fun and interesting stories.

If you are looking for "club life" or "nightlife" : Catalina is probably not for you, unless you have come over for a special Casino event (like the Jazz Festival).

If you are looking for quality time with family and friends: THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU.

My wife and I have stayed at the Inn on Mt. Ada each year since 1986 when we had the privilege of being married at the Inn. Each year we spend two or three day at the Inn for our anniversary, on occasion we will make other trips as well just to unwind. We know the Inn, we know the staff.

Most of the staff are long time employees who we know very well. Never during the past twenty-three years have we even know any of the staff to be rude or condescending. On the contrary, it is usually a guest that is rude to the staff, fortunately this is infrequent. As for Michael, that's another story. Michael is one of the kindest, friendly, most personable gentlemen I've known. Michael has been known to go out of his way to accomodate guests, even going so far as to pick up irresponsible guests who miss their scheduled boat from the mainland, after hours and on his own time, off the clock, no pay!

As for the cookies, I know for a fact that cookies and pastries are baked fresh each day, never have we seen "Chips Ahoy". The lunch is basic. Sandwichs, hamburgers, salads and great home made Mexican dishes each day. Free wine, Champagne, soft drinks, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, whatever one would desire. Breakfast is excellent and the staff will always accomodate guests with special needs. In the morning one is awakened by the scent of fresh brewed coffee and baked muffins that are put out on the buffett prior to breakfast.

Clearly, "jennaelisabeth" needs to go to San Ysidro Ranch where they have a gormet restaurant, nice rustic rooms and spend four times the money for the experience. For the money Mt. Ada is a much better value. Mt. Ada is a historic, one of a kind Inn that is well maintained, with an unmatched location. Its unfortunate that there are such miserable people in the world that do not see the real beauty of the Inn and the wonderful people who make the Inn so memorable.
