This is not somewhere I would stay again. It was clean. The rooms were VERY small. Our room was next to the stairs and the alley. All night we could hear people going up and down the stairs and people going throught the trash cans. Also an alarm went off in an ajoining (empty) room for several hours in the middle of the night. VERY annoying that it was not turned off. Very small and not nice for the price.

Our room was very nice and clean, but extremely tiny. We could hear everything our neighbors said through the wall by our headboard. We shared another wall with our firends and we could talk to each other through the wall! The continental breakfast consists of danishes, instant oatmeal, tea, coffee, and orange juice, so we went out to eat a more substantial breakfast. The Catalina Island Inn is nice, but very small. The Hotel Metropole is more our style.

Room Tip: Room 201 and 216 are tiny!

We got a queen room as usual, but it was located at the front of the building...
Everyday at 6:50am: Garbage truck!!!
7:00am street sweeper on Tuesdays and Thursdays!!!
Neighboring building allows tenants to throw bottles and garbage into dumpsters from 2nd and 3rd story fire escape causing a great cacophony!
Don't get me wrong, I love CATALINA ISLAND INN... just stay in the rooms furthest from the street.

The room and inn was exactly as expected but it is next door to a Vons market. The noise from the market is 24 hours from the fans to the beeping of delivery trucks. The partial view we paid extra for included the roof of the market. We came to Catalina for peace and quiet and the beauty of the harbor and unfortunately did not find it at the Catalina Island Inn.

The family room is SMALL and on the bad side of the hotel. For $300, seemed very overpriced. Our backs hurt after sleeping on their beds.

Room Tip: Definitely ask to stay on the beach side, which is a much different experience.

The hotel is adorable and intimate. The rooms are a little small but very well furnished. The location is perfect - right by the water. Everything is walking distance. We had wine and cheese on their patio overlooking the water and they happily provided all everything for this. A lot of character. I had a wonderful time and would definitely go back.

The hotel offers clean rooms with recently updated rooms/furnishings. We booked a "king, balcony" for three nights. The balcony view was of the next door supermarket roof. If you stood in the corner you could see the mountains. The room had no air conditioning and it was quite hot. Keeping the balcony door open for air gave way to the hum of the supermarket refrigeration at night, delivery trucks in the morning. Security was another issue. There were no in-room safes and the door from the street to the hotel rooms was always open. The hotel office had a separate door that was locked at night. On our first night in the hotel, a very drunk man was passed out in the hallway in front of our door. He awoke at 3:00 a.m. and began pounding on our door. This went on for almost 30 minutes before he fell down the staircase which our room was at the top of. He made it back up the stairs to our door and continued his pounding, shouting and crying. The only way to notify the night manager of any trouble was through a telephone located in the hallway! Someone eventually called the police who promptly arrived and struggled to subdue the drunken man who they then tasered (lots of screaming at this point) at least three to five times. By 4:30 a.m. they were all gone and I went back to bed. Soon I heard what sounded like water spilling on our balcony. I peeked out the door but saw nothing and went back to bed. In the morning, the "water" I heard was actually a guest in the room above us, vomiting onto our balcony. That morning I asked at reception to please make sure housekeeping tended to our balcony, they did not. I'd call it hit or miss on this one. We obviously missed it. I won't be back.
