Owner description: Few words can describe the ambiance of the Catalina Casino: it epitomizes everything glamorous and romantic about Catalina Island. The one-of-a-kind venue is simply stunning inside, outside, and all around. If the meticulously decorated walls could talk, they’d tell countless stories of romance and celebration gathered from decades of memorable events. The immense, Deco-themed ballroom is large enough to contain weddings, large meetings or lectures or musical events. The Casino has retained its signature lavish style: a stunning medley of rose-hued walls, an arching, 50-foot ceiling with five Tiffany chandeliers, an elevated stage, raised seating areas surrounding the wooden dance floor, and a vintage full-service bar anchoring the back. A sweeping veranda surrounds the ballroom with stunning 360-degree views of Avalon Bay.

“It's a must do!”

Emily was our tour guide. She was very knowledgable and did a fantastic job! The history behind the casino is very interesting and the theater room and ballroom are amazing. It's only 10 bucks for a 40 minute tour. Great value!

“Interesting to See....Once”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

The Catalina Ballroom is the island's biggest attraction. It sits in the Avalon harbor and begs visitors with its round facade. Yes, it's beautiful. Yes, the tile mosaic of the naked mermaid is iconic. Yes, it's a monument to a time gone by. Yes, you only need to see it once, and really, the tour should have been 15 minutes...at the most. Catalina was, apparently, the place to go on a weekend mini-break back in the 1930's and 40's for Hollywood celebs and non-famous hipsters, but now the island is a party place for oldsters in their boats who call it "The Island." I call it "The Most Boring Place I Can Imagine," but you can decide for yourself. The gift shop at The Casino is nice. They have great postcards and such with retro, art deco designs, and beautiful tile magnets emulating the "Catalina" tile look. Definitely visit since you're there and will virtually have nothing else to do.

“If you love Art Deco, don't miss this!”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

Who knew that a Wrigley chewing gum magnate spend lavish amounts of money on a remarkable entertainment venue on an island? I sure didn't. Built in 1929, this is an amazing piece of architecture and it is so well preserved its like stepping into a time capsule. Gorgeous woodwork and designs adorn the interior and its a must-see for fans of Art Deco.
