We went to The Lobster Trap twice while in Avalon. The Lobster Roll and Lobster Tacos were excellent, and a great value for the price ($18 and $6 each). The Fried Seafood Combo was equally good. A nice selection of wine and Lost Coast Brewery Beer on draft. The restaurant was very busy on both occasions, but we were quickly seated and the service was fast and friendly. Highly recommended--a must stop in Catalina.

We showed up late (around nine-ish) on a Sunday night, anxious because the islands' restaurants were shutting down for the night and hungry ( after a bit of seasickness on the ferry boat earlier that morning) and without reservations, and they made us feel entirely welcome The décor is cool and we felt like two giggly kids when we got to sit at a table in an actual boat! (without the seasickedness this time :) And the food! Boyfriend had the macadamia nut mahi mahi with tropical salsa, it was the best I've tasted outside of Maui; I had the local halibut, blackened , with Rosie's special marinade...sublime. We kept eating off of each other's plates and it was all simply too yummy! The server (Miguel?) was charming, knowledgeable and helpful, and when he spotted boyfriend's happy birthday ribbon even brought us a delicious piece of red velvet cake for dessert. The wine list by the glass was quite good. Prices seem reasonable for the quality. Only regret that we didn't try this place last year when we first visited Catalina. Highly recommend if you appreciate good fish, well-prepared.

We had our first meal on Catalina Island at the Lobster Trap. Our rental house in Avalon was just up the road a couple of blocks so very convenient. There were 7 of us and the staff at the Lobster Trap were very accomodating. Even in the off season, the place was packed. The service was great, they really took care of us. The food was very good. My brother in law even had lobster at the lobster trap. Go figure. I just went with a fried seafood combo which was very tasty. Prices were not bad for Avalon. The drinks were cold and the food hot and fresh. Had we stayed longer than just the 3 nights we were there, we probably would have gone back.

We tried the Lobster Trap the first night on the island. This place is all about seafood. My wife had the lobster tail while I enjoyed the macadamia nut sword fish. Both dishes were very tasty. The lobster was fresh, moist and buttery. The sword fish was cooked perfectly and tasted very fresh. The place was busy and seems to be a local hangout. The service was friendly and attentive . We enjoyed our dinner and can't wait to return and try some of the other seafood offerings. Price is what you would expect for good fresh seafood.

My husband had fettucine Alfredo with mushrooms and chicken. He raved about the flavors and wished he had capacity to eat another order. I had sauteed calamari steak, which was lightly breaded and topped with a thin lemon caper sauce. It tasted very fresh and was perfectly cooked. Service is excellent. No complaints at all.
