“Big city eats/wine with small town atmosphere”
Reviewed August 11, 2010

Great wine selection and the food was excellent. The menu is short, but don't let that throw you off -- try some of the appetizers -- they're just a little different but quite good. Also, the wines are quite well priced -- especially if you chose a bottle to have with dinner. They also sell wines as a retail outlet and we found they have some of the best prices around. Try this place and you will NOT be disappointed.

“Simply the Best!”
Reviewed February 24, 2010

My wife and I have traveled to many wonderful places in this world and have dined at some of the most fabulous restaurants and we still believe that Carpe Vino is in a 5 star class! Besides having some of the best wines that the earth has to offer at reasonable prices, their approach to food is amazing. What Chef Eric puts out in their little kitchen should make all of us proclaimed to be good cooks with our big, fancy, stainless steel, granite top kitchens ashamed. I believe that this guy could cook better than most with only a Coleman’s stove. As a “foodie” and a wine aficionado living in Auburn, Carpe Vino exceeds my expectations! Do not wonder it is a great place to, just go and enjoy!

“A Secret Too Well Kept”
Reviewed December 31, 2008

My wife and I have eaten at Carpe Vino twice in the last two months. Both of the experiences were absolutely wonderful. We have lived in the Sacramento area for six years, transplanted from the Silicon Valley. Since moving here we have found it very difficult to find upscale restaurants that serve creative dishes on a consistant basis. Most of the restaurants that get high ratings from the local Sacramento magazines are very disappointing and over rated. Carpe Vino is a gem. The atmosphere is elegant without being pretentious, the help is friendly, professional and attentive, the wine offering is unrivaled and of course the food is fantastic. The chef is very creative and his presentations are more than pleasing to the eyes. The Foie Gras appetizer and the Scallop appetizer are to die for and the soups will make you almost cry with delight. Main courses will keep you coming back to try each and everyone... Did I mention that the wine offering is amazing. The best thing about the wine offering is you pay retail for the bottle of wine... you heard me right you pay the RETAIL price of the wine and not a bloated two to three times mark up. The wines are displayed around the restaurant and you are free to explore all their offerings. If you are not very familiar with wines the staff is very knowledgeable on what wines pair well with what dish. Do yourself a major favor and try Carpe Vino, I promise you will not be disappointed with your experience....

“A little bit of sophistication in Auburn”
Reviewed June 5, 2008

Outstanding intimate wine bar and bistro in the heart of Auburn.
Many outstanding wines, from well-known classics to esoteric wineries you may not have heard of, are available to try and buy.

Creative and delicious plates, too.
We highly recommend it.
