Was taken to this charming spot by a local Auburn friend who claims it is the best food and wine outside of San Francisco. We arrived rather late by local standards and the kitchen was closed. They opened up to accommodate us with their full menu. The week had a theme pairing kitchen and wines; Italian. Very tasty food, good wine. If you want a night out dining, not grabbing a bite, this is the place.

We love Carpe Vino dinners and always book our birthday and anniversary dinners here. The service is excellent. They always suggest great wines to be paired with our choice of entrees and we have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is cozy and tastefully decorated with wine racks lining the walls as well as photography from one of our local photographers.

Carpe Vino is a wine shop and restaurant. The wines are reasonably priced with a great selection. The food is varied and delicious with starters like olive, almonds, salami, and interesting dips. The heirloom tomatoes – burrata cheese, brioche crouton, grilled red onion, garden basil, are fabulous!! They have a selection of unique, delicious cheeses. Wines can be purchased by the glass in 3 oz or 6 oz portions, or by the bottle.

Eight of us drove up to Auburn last night and had an excellent meal. Our 8PM reservation was promptly honored. We were seated in their private room, affectionately called "the cave," because it is located in back of the main rebuilt part of the restaurant, built around the time of the Gold Rush. Our server, Paul, was very experienced, working at CV since it opened in 2006. No problem with the four bottles of wine we brought, setting out different glasses for the white, Pinot and red blends, decanting one of the bottles as requested, and serving warm bread and butter, the latter in silver containers; no frozen butter in foil at CV. First courses ranged from fresh corn purée, to romaine heart Caesar salad, to Moroccan meatballs in gypsy pepper Harissa sauce served with tangy cucumber yogurt. Entrees were limited to four and included Oregon salmon served with fresh corn relish that was very good, although a little undercooked for my taste; lamb confit; and angus filet that looked like a mini junior filet, although the two who ordered it said it was absolutely delicious. Desserts were fabulous, and included peach profiteroles, chocolate ganache cake, and a panicotta. Pricy at $140 per couple, but it was one of the better meals we've had in recent months. We will certainly come back for more!

My husband and I went here for an anniversary dinner. We made reservations online, which I recommend; the place was full upon arrival. As one reviewer said, the menu is a bit limited, but there is still something for everyone.I suggest checking the menu online before heading out. It helped in my decision. Our waiter was very friendly, engaging, and very accomodating. Our reservation was at eight, and the website said the restaurant was closed at nine, but the wine bar was open until ten. I was worried we would be rushed through dinner, but we were able to take our time and they didn't bring the next item until we were done with the previous one. This was truly one of the best meals We have ever eaten at a restaurant. My husband, who always finds at least one thing wrong with his dining experiences had no complaints. He loved the atmosphere, the art on the walls, the structure of the building, and most of all, how the wine was displayed against the walls. The icing on the cake was when they brought our dessert, they wrote, "Happy Anniversary" on the plates and put a candle in it! I was very impressed with the entire dining experience.
