Everything from Prime Rib to burgers. There were twelve of us and we each had something different and everybody liked what they had.

Very convenient to the hotel that we stayed in, next door.

I love the blue cheese fries. Order the sauce on the side, then use it on everything.

My boyfriend and I stopped here on our way home to Sacramento after a day playing in the snow. It was totally unplanned -- Ikeda's a few doors down was closed.

It turned into a completely romantic dinner sitting right in front of the fire and the fact that we were wearing jeans and sweaters didn't seem to bother anyone. My boyfriend declared the sausage and Portabello mushroom pizza we shared one of the best he'd ever eaten and we ordered an apple pie and creme brule. They could have carmelized the top a little longer, but it was pretty fantastic. My BF's apple pie was delicious!

We had a wonderful time. The wait staff could be a little more welcoming for that extra touch, but they were nice enough. We plan on going back to sit by the fire again, next time to try a full out dinner.

Lou LaBonte's is a classic example of a restuarant that has slipped in quality but manages to get by because of a reputation from its glory days and lots of traffic passing by on Interstate 80. Its been around 61 years and its menu selection sure looks it: a throwback to the steak, seafood and pasta dishes that restaurants of generations ago offered. But Lou's is overpriced, the food mediocre, and while initially friendly the staff became rude and turned the lights off as we were preparing to leave. There is no soup or salad included even for $18 chicken entrees. There was only one other table of diners when we walked in, and they were just leaving. No doubt the building was paid off long ago and a bar full of lonely locals promises a positive cash flow for the Lou's daughter. I like to support family-owned restaurants but Lou's had us wishing we'd gone to Dennys. Keep driving.
